XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G26 (2WD/4WD) 4/6CYL 2020-2026

The G26 Gran Coupe rides on the same CLAR strut-front, multi-link-rear architecture as the 3 Series saloon, but wrapped in a longer five-door liftback body that carries more mass further back over the rear axle. Under hard braking or a quick direction change, that extra weight loads the rear differently to the standard saloon, and a factory-tuned street set-up was never calibrated to control it at anything above a fast road pace.

XYZ Racing’s Top Sport line is built for exactly this gap: owners who want a 4 Series that behaves on an occasional track day without turning the daily commute into a chore. It suits both the four-cylinder 420i-class cars and the six-cylinder, drive-to-all-four-wheels variants in this range, where the extra nose weight of the drivetrain changes how the front end loads under trail braking.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 BMW 4 Series G26

Damping force is raised 30-50% over a street baseline, with spring rates lifted by up to 2kg/mm, which is what keeps the G26’s heavier tail from working the rear dampers into a soft, wallowing motion over broken tarmac. Hit a mid-corner ridge or a compression on a fast B-road and the shock body is kept under control rather than pattering, which puts more of the tyre’s contact patch to work exactly when you need traction most. The result on this chassis is a car that turns in with less of the float you get from the factory dampers, and holds its line through direction changes instead of the rear stepping wide as weight shifts backward. On the xDrive-equipped 4/6-cylinder cars in this range, that same control keeps the front axle planted under power out of slower corners, where torque going to the front wheels can otherwise unsettle the ride.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport kit is XYZ Racing’s track-day-and-back setup, built from the damping and spring data the brand runs in its own Top Sport racing programme rather than a generic street tune scaled up. Compared with a standard street coilover, damping is increased by roughly a third to a half, or spring rate is stepped up by as much as 2kg/mm, specifically to absorb sharper impacts – potholes, kerb strikes, mid-corner bumps – without letting the shock body kick back through the chassis. That extra control is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping rather than skipping across an uneven surface, which is the difference between a car that feels stable at speed and one that doesn’t. It’s calibrated for aggressive driving and repeated track sessions while still being liveable as a daily set-up, which is the brief for this range.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series G26 (2020-2026)

Built for the G26-chassis 4 Series (chassis code BM122), covering both the four-cylinder and six-cylinder 2WD and 4WD (xDrive) variants sold across the 2020-2026 model years. Confirm your exact engine and drivetrain variant against your V5C before ordering, as damping and spring specification differ between 2WD and xDrive cars in this range.
