XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Mk6 Golf’s independent rear end was never built with loose surfaces in mind, and that’s exactly the gap this Gravel Rally coilover closes. Where a tarmac-biased set-up chases outright grip, this kit is built around the reality of a gravel stage: the car needs to move, bounce, and land without the chassis telegraphing every rut back through the driver’s hands.

For a Mk6 Golf built for rally or rallycross use, that means a suspension package that can shrug off sandstone, snow, or silt in the same event without needing a retune between stages, and this Gravel Rally spec is XYZ Racing’s answer for exactly that brief.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6 Φ50 (modified Rr Integrated) (cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping)

Fitted to a 2008-2012 Golf Mk6 running the multi-link rear, this coilover trades track-day stiffness for stroke length and compliance. The long-travel damper lets the wheel follow the terrain rather than skipping across it, so the car keeps its line over washboard gravel and compression bumps instead of getting deflected off-line. The long spring works with that stroke to absorb chassis vibration before it reaches the body shell, which matters when a stage runs for several minutes at speed rather than a single flying lap. Because this application includes the cancellation kit for the Golf’s electronic damping control, the factory adaptive dampers are properly bypassed rather than left fighting a fixed-rate set-up underneath. The result on your Golf is a rear axle that stays planted enough under G-force through a rally turn to keep the front end pointed, instead of stepping wide the moment the surface changes.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most aggressive a competition car will see. The inverted-tube design is there to cope with that variability – sandstone one stage, snow or silt the next – without the shock absorber becoming the weak link in the car. Long stroke and long spring combine to soak up chassis vibration and absorb the aggressive hits that come from high-speed bouncy roads, while still holding the car together under the extreme G-force loads generated mid-corner. Every spring rate on this unit has been set and tested by an actual rally racing team rather than derived on a rig, so the baseline you’re fitting has already done the job it’s built for. It’s a damper built around abuse and inconsistency, not a smoothed-out road spec badged for motorsport.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Golf Mk6 φ50 chassis (VO17-A-C) across the 2008-2012 production run, specifically for cars with the modified rear multi-link set-up and the electronic damping cancellation kit fitted. Confirm your Golf uses this rear configuration before ordering, as the cancellation kit is required where the factory electronic damping control would otherwise remain active.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
