XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Golf Mk6’s front-wheel-drive layout puts launch traction entirely on the front contact patches, and a hard standing start wants to do the opposite of what those tyres need – it unloads the nose and lets the fronts spin before they ever bite. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover kit is built around that exact conflict, tuning the chassis to load the driven wheels the instant power goes down rather than settling into grip gradually.

Fitted to the φ50 Mk6 with the modified, rear-integrated rear end, this kit includes the cancellation hardware needed to remove the car’s factory electronic damping control outright, so a fixed-rate mechanical damper is doing the work instead of an adaptive system trying to second-guess a launch. It’s built for cars that live at the strip – ride comfort and daily-driving compliance are not what this spec is chasing.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen Golf Mk6

Off the line, the kit’s front-to-rear weight-transfer tuning shifts load onto the driven wheels the moment you release the clutch, forcing the tyre into the tarmac under compression instead of letting it spin loose before it hooks up. That’s where a Mk6’s FWD drag runs are actually won or lost, at the 60-foot mark, not on the top end. Because the setting is calibrated to the car’s own transmission load path rather than a generic ride-height drop, the Golf settles into the same launch stance every run instead of squatting unpredictably. Cutting the factory electronic damping out of the loop also means there’s no control module guessing at a damping curve mid-launch – the response is fixed, so it’s repeatable.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drag Racing coilover for 0-400 metre standing-start racing, and the platform is designed to cover front-, rear- and four-wheel-drive cars rather than being a single drop-kit spec forced onto every layout. The core of it is a weight-transfer setting that shifts front-to-rear balance according to where a given car’s transmission actually sends power, so a FWD Golf loads differently to a RWD or 4WD car running the same series. That shift forces the driven tyre into greater compression against the tarmac, cutting down how long the wheel spends spinning idle before it grips – the detail that actually decides a clean 60-foot. Past the launch, the same tuning keeps the car settled as speed builds, holding the chassis stable through the run instead of letting it go light at the top end. It’s a coilover built around one manoeuvre, and tuned to repeat it.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 (2008-2012)

This kit is coded VO17-A-C for the Mk6 Golf’s φ50 strut chassis, covering the 2008 to 2012 model years, and it includes the cancellation kit required to remove the factory electronic damping control on the modified, rear-integrated rear end. Confirm your car sits within this build window and carries the φ50 strut spec before ordering, as running gear on the Mk6 changed across trims and model years.

Spec is fixed to this Golf Mk6 build window and its cancellation kit requirement, so configure yours below to lock in the drag-racing setup for your car.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
