XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Toyota CALDINA 4WD 1996-2002

The Caldina 4WD’s turbocharged all-wheel-drive layout was built to put power down on loose surfaces, and the ST215 GT-Four’s rally pedigree means this estate was never just a shopping wagon underneath. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built for exactly that brief: longer-travel dampers front and rear that keep the wheels tracking on gravel, snow and broken tarmac rather than skipping over it.

Where a circuit-biased coilover chases minimal ride height and stiff damping for smooth asphalt, this spec trades some of that for suspension travel and thermal headroom – the priorities that matter when the surface under the Caldina’s tyres changes metre to metre.

What this coilover does for your 1996-2002 Toyota Caldina 4WD

Extended suspension travel at both ends gives the 4WD Caldina a bigger buffer before the dampers bottom out on rutted gravel or compacted snow, so the wagon’s all-wheel-drive system keeps finding traction instead of unloading a wheel mid-corner. The larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas is the other half of that equation: on a long stage or a lengthy snow-covered b-road, that extra volume delays the point where oil temperature climbs and damping starts to fade. Three external adjustment knobs per corner let you retune compression and rebound as the surface changes – looser for deep gravel, firmer once you’re back on hardpack – without pulling the dampers off the car. For a 1996-2002 Toyota Caldina 4WD, that combination turns an already capable AWD platform into one you can keep adjusting as conditions do.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is XYZ Racing’s damper for rally and rally-cross use rather than smooth-circuit lapping. Both front and rear units run longer stroke lengths than the road- or track-biased kits in the range, giving the suspension more distance to absorb a compression before it runs out of travel – the difference between a wheel following a rut and one skipping clean across it. Internally, the shock bodies hold a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard monotube design, which slows the rate at which oil temperature rises during sustained hard use and helps the damping stay consistent run after run rather than fading as the unit heats up. Each corner uses three external adjustment knobs feeding oil through a deliberately small internal passage; on sharp compressions over big bumps this can produce a faint mechanical noise from the valving, which is a normal by-product of the design rather than a fault. It’s a damper built around abuse and heat management first, outright stiffness second.

Fitment for the Toyota Caldina 4WD (1996-2002)

This kit is specced for the Toyota Caldina 4WD, chassis code TO09, covering the 1996 to 2002 model years. It’s built specifically around the all-wheel-drive Caldina – confirm your car is the 4WD variant rather than a front-drive model before ordering, as the two use different suspension geometry front and rear.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
