XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Toyota ALPHARD AH30 2WD/4WD 4/6 CYL 2015-2023

The AH30 Alphard’s tall body and MPV-spec damping were never built to hold a line at rally pace. This is a three-row luxury van with a high centre of gravity, and factory dampers tuned for occupant comfort roll hard the moment you load a corner on loose or uneven tarmac. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover replaces that factory tune with a damper calibrated for exactly this kind of work: sealed-stage tarmac rally, where the surface can change from smooth asphalt to broken, cambered farm road inside a single stage.

For a car this size – whether you’re running the 2WD layout or the 4WD E-Four all-wheel-drive variant, in 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder form – controlling body movement over compressions and crests without unsettling the chassis is the whole job. This kit is built around that brief.

What this coilover does for your 2015-2023 Toyota ALPHARD AH30

On a car carrying Alphard-typical kerb weight plus three rows of trim, the first thing you’ll notice is how much less the body pitches and rolls when a stage surface goes from tarmac to broken edge without warning. The Tarmac Rally damper is set up to absorb sudden compression – the kind you get crossing a pothole or a washed-out lip at speed – without transmitting that hit straight into body roll, which on a tall MPV is normally where things get unsettled fast. Suppressing that shock through the body keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded instead of skipping, so the ALPHARD holds traction over the same broken surfaces that would have a stock-damped car skating wide. That adds up to a more predictable, more planted Toyota through direction changes at rally pace, which matters more on a vehicle this tall and this heavy than on a low sports coupe, where the margin for body movement is already narrow before the start line.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally line is XYZ Racing’s damper built specifically for sealed-stage tarmac events – competitive rallying run entirely on paved roads rather than gravel or forest track. The valving is set up to soak up the sharp edge of a big compression – a pothole, a broken drain cover, a cambered farm gateway – without kicking that impact back through the body, which is what causes a car to step sideways mid-corner on rough tarmac. XYZ Racing runs its own Tarmac Rally programme, and the settings on this coilover come directly from that competition experience rather than a road-going baseline simply turned up. The result is a damper that keeps the tyre pressed into the road surface through repeated hits, holding the contact patch loaded so grip doesn’t drop away the moment the tarmac gets rough. On a vehicle the size and weight of the ALPHARD, that kind of controlled compression is what keeps the chassis settled from corner to corner instead of pitching.
