XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Subaru LEGACY BL/BP 4WD 2004-2009

The Legacy BL/BP’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive layout is built to put power down through all four corners, not to slide – which is exactly why drifting one rewards a coilover that manages weight transfer at the front axle as much as the rear. A nose-heavy boxer four sat ahead of the driver means the front end loads differently under trail-braking and clutch-kick entries than a rear-drive car, and the suspension has to keep that mass composed once you commit to an angle.

XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec kit for the Legacy BL/BP 4WD is built around that reality. Ride height comes down and the bump stroke is set up specifically for sustained, high-speed direction changes, so the chassis holds its line through a slide instead of pitching and handing control back to the driver mid-transition.

What this coilover does for your 2004-2009 Subaru LEGACY BL/BP 4WD

Drop the ride height on a 2004-2009 Legacy 4WD and the immediate change is a lower centre of gravity, which matters on a car that’s carrying more weight over the nose than a typical drift platform. The bump stroke is calibrated for the loads a Legacy generates when it’s transitioning through a slide at speed, so the body stays settled rather than wallowing as the AWD system hunts for grip mid-manoeuvre. That composure is what lets a driver hold a consistent angle through a long sweeper instead of constantly correcting. Because the kit is tuned for stabilising the body specifically during high-speed cornering, the car telegraphs what it’s doing earlier, which matters when you’re reading a slide through a BL saloon or a BP wagon rather than a lighter rear-drive coupe.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range for one job: keeping the car’s body under control once it’s sideways. Rather than chasing outright stiffness, the valving and stroke are set up to stabilise the chassis through high-speed turning so the driver can hold a clean, deliberate angle rather than fight a car that’s pitching or wandering. Ride height is dropped as part of the package, and the bump stroke is matched to that lower height so the suspension still has usable travel once the car is loaded up mid-slide. The result is a kit aimed squarely at drivers who need repeatable, controllable angle rather than raw grip – the difference between a car that drifts on command and one that’s fighting the driver the whole way round.

Fitment for the Subaru LEGACY BL/BP 4WD (2004-2009)

This kit is built for the Subaru LEGACY BL/BP 4WD, chassis code SU16, covering the 2004 to 2009 model years. It’s specced for the AWD drivetrain shared across the BL saloon and BP wagon body styles from this generation, so both variants are covered by the same kit.

Built for drivers taking a 4WD Legacy into competitive drifting rather than the drag strip or road course – configure yours below to match your build.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
