XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Mitsubishi 3000 GT / GTO 4WD 1992-1996

The 3000 GT VR-4’s biggest handling problem was never grip – the twin-turbo 4WD platform had that in abundance. It was mass. At close to 1,750kg with all-wheel drive hardware, active aero and four-wheel steering, the MT03 chassis needs suspension that can control body movement under load without turning the ride into a chore. The Circuit Master coilover is built for exactly that job: sustained circuit lap-time work where a heavy, powerful car has to stay flat and predictable through every corner of a session, not just the first two laps.

This is XYZ Racing’s top-tier damper, and on a 3000 GT / GTO that means keeping the front end planted under trail-braking into a corner and resisting the squat that comes from putting turbocharged power down through all four wheels on exit.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1996 Mitsubishi 3000 GT / GTO 4WD

With 9720 combinations across the damper’s adjustment range, you can set the front and rear independently to account for the VR-4’s nose-heavy weight bias – softer initial compression to load the front tyres progressively, firmer rebound to stop the rear settling under acceleration out of slow corners. The monotube design sheds heat more consistently than the factory dampers over a full track session, which matters on a car this heavy: fade in the suspension shows up as vague turn-in on lap eight when it never did on lap two. Ride height is adjustable independently of spring preload, so you can correct the factory sit – which was never optimised for track use – without changing the spring rate you’ve chosen for the chassis. The result on this specific car is a front end that turns in with less push under load and a rear that stays composed when the AWD system is putting torque down hard out of a hairpin.

About the Circuit Master coilover

The Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range, built specifically for repeated circuit sessions rather than a single fast road blast. It uses a 3-knob adjustment layout – separate control over compression, rebound and ride height – giving the fine-grained tuning window that produces those 9720 possible setups, so a heavy AWD platform like the MT03 can be dialled somewhere between "compliant enough to trust on cold tyres" and "stiff enough to control body roll once the tyres are up to temperature." XYZ tests this damper through its own racing programme rather than relying purely on bench data, which is why the adjustment range is built around what actually holds up across a race distance, not just a single hot lap. One thing worth knowing before you fit it: the small oil passage design around each adjustment knob can produce a faint noise over sharp bumps. That’s a normal characteristic of the damper’s internals, not a fault, and it’s a non-issue on the smooth surfaces this coilover is designed for.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
