XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz A CLASS W176 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2012-2018

The W176 A-Class carries its engine transversely over the front axle, which loads the nose hard the moment you trail-brake into a corner and leaves the factory rear end to soak up the resulting weight transfer largely on its own. Mercedes never specified a coilover-ready rear on this generation, so any serious damping upgrade has to work around that – which is exactly what this kit is built to do.

The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover kit for the Mercedes Benz A CLASS W176 (Modified Rr Integrated) pairs a firmer front and rear damping curve with a rear assembly that replaces the separate spring-and-damper layout with one integrated unit. It’s aimed at drivers who split their time between a fast road and the odd track day, rather than a car that only ever sees a car park.

What this coilover kit does for your 2012-2018 Mercedes Benz A CLASS W176 (Modified Rr Integrated)

Running 30-50% more damping force than XYZ’s street-oriented setting, or the optional 2kg/mm firmer spring rate, keeps the nose from diving as hard under braking and stops the rear from wallowing when the surface breaks up mid-corner. Big compressions – a kerb strike, a poorly patched section of B-road – get absorbed rather than kicked back through the chassis, which matters on a platform that already has plenty of weight to manage over the front wheels. The result is a car that keeps its tyre’s contact patch loaded through direction changes instead of unloading it every time the road gets rough, and a rear axle that stays composed rather than skipping under hard cornering. For a W176 that’s going to see a circuit as often as a commute, that’s the difference between a car you have to manage and one that just does what you ask.

About the Top Sport coilover

The Top Sport line is set up from damping and spring figures XYZ Racing has carried over from its own Top Sport racing programme, not generic off-the-shelf valving. Damping force sits 30-50% above the street-tuned baseline, with a 2kg/mm stiffer spring rate available where a firmer setup is wanted. That extra control is there to absorb sharp inputs – broken tarmac, big compressions, kerb strikes – without the shock body kicking back and unsettling the car, which keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded and the platform stable through a direction change. On the W176 specifically, the kit is built with the rear end modified to take an integrated coilover assembly in place of the factory separate spring and damper, since this chassis wasn’t given a coilover mounting from new. It’s aimed squarely at track day use and aggressive road driving, not a comfort-first daily setup.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz A CLASS W176 (Modified Rr Integrated) (2012-2018)

This kit is built for the Mercedes Benz A CLASS W176, chassis code ME00-1, covering the 2012 to 2018 production run, with the rear specified as the Modified Rr Integrated conversion rather than a direct bolt-in of the factory rear geometry. Confirm your car falls within this build window before ordering, as the W176 saw meaningful running changes across its life.
