XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E65 12 CYL 2001-2008

The E65 7 Series carries its weight low but wide, and a V12 up front means the nose wants to keep travelling in a straight line long after you’ve asked it to rotate. That’s the exact problem competitive drifting exposes: a 2.1-tonne saloon with a long wheelbase either resists the angle you’re trying to hold, or snaps through it with nothing progressive in between. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built to close that gap.

Where a fast-road coilover on this chassis would fight you mid-drift, this kit is tuned specifically to stabilise the body through high-speed transitions so you can hold a clean angle rather than chase one. It’s a purpose-built answer for E65 owners running this car in competitive drift, not a generalist set-up wearing a drift label.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2008 Bmw 7 Series E65 12 Cyl

Lower the ride height correctly within the coilover’s designed bump stroke and the E65’s high centre of gravity stops working against you mid-slide – body roll settles, weight transfer through the transition becomes something you can predict lap after lap instead of something that catches you out. The 3-way adjustment knobs let you tune compression and rebound independently front and rear, which matters on a car this heavy: too soft and the nose dives under initial steering input, too firm and you lose the controlled slip angle a V12 saloon needs to hold a line. On a chassis with this much unsprung mass, getting that balance right is the difference between a car that drifts and a car that merely slides. Expect sharper transitions between opposite-lock changes and a rear end that loads progressively rather than stepping out unannounced.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a coilover engineered from the ground up for drift competition rather than adapted from a circuit or fast-road platform. Its core job is keeping the vehicle body stable through high-speed cornering so the driver can hold a precise angle instead of fighting the chassis for it. The 3 adjustment knobs use a small oil-hole design that lets damping fluid move through a deliberately narrow passage – on a rough section of track this can produce a faint noise under load, which is a normal characteristic of the design rather than a fault. That’s a trade-off XYZ Racing has made deliberately: fine metering through a small orifice buys finer control at the damping extremes drift demands. It’s built for circuit-track use, where repeated bumps and kerb strikes are part of the job rather than an edge case, and where holding an aggressively lowered ride height without the suspension geometry falling apart matters as much as the damping curve itself.

Fitment for the Bmw 7 Series E65 12 Cyl (2001-2008)

This kit is fitted to the BM50 chassis code – the Bmw 7 Series E65 built with the 12-cylinder engine across the 2001 to 2008 production run. Confirm your car matches this engine and chassis combination before ordering, as the E65 range spans multiple engine configurations across its build years.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
