XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW 7 SERIES E65 12 CYL 2001-2008

A two-tonne-plus V12 saloon riding on factory air struts is about the last thing you’d design for a loose-surface stage, which is exactly the gap the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built to close on the 2001-2008 BMW 7 Series E65 12 CYL. Where the standard air suspension chases ride comfort and self-levelling, this kit swaps in a fixed, mechanically simple damper with the extra wheel travel a car this long and this heavy needs to stay planted when the surface stops being tarmac.

For an E65 running winter roads, unsealed tracks or rallycross-style events, the brief is control over comfort. Longer front and rear travel keeps the wheels working through ruts and compressions that would otherwise slam a low-travel setup, and the added buffer distance is what keeps a car this size from pitching and wallowing when the surface drops away underneath it.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2008 Bmw 7 Series E65

Fit this coilover to a 7 Series E65 and the first thing you notice is composure over broken or loose ground rather than the float you get from the air struts. The extended travel front and rear absorbs bigger hits without the suspension running out of stroke, which matters on a car carrying a V12 up front and a long wheelbase to manage. XYZ Racing has also increased the volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas the damper carries, so the shock has more thermal mass to work with, meaning oil temperature stays under control instead of spiking and going soft during a long stage or a hard winter drive. The three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound as conditions change, from packed snow to loose gravel, without pulling the dampers off the car.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow was developed primarily for rally and rallycross use, where the surface underneath the car changes by the corner and suspension travel is the difference between staying on line and running wide. XYZ Racing built in noticeably longer stroke at both ends compared with the circuit-focused ranges, giving the chassis a bigger buffer before the damper tops or bottoms out over compressions and crests. The larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas is there to stop the shock overheating on longer stints, a common failure point on dampers not built for sustained off-tarmac abuse. Three external adjustment knobs, each metering oil through a small internal passage, give fine control over compression and rebound; on bigger impacts that small-passage design can produce a faint noise as oil moves through it, which is normal and not a fault. It’s a damper built to shrug off repeated hits on a rough surface rather than chase the last degree of camber on a smooth circuit.

Fitment for the Bmw 7 Series E65 (2001-2008)

This kit is built for the BMW 7 Series E65, chassis code BM50, covering the 12-cylinder cars produced between 2001 and 2008. It’s specified for the V12 variant of the range, matching the extra weight and length that platform carries over the six-cylinder E65 cars. Confirm your build date falls within this window before ordering, as suspension mounting points shifted across the E65’s production run.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
