XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 6 SERIES E64 8 CYL 2004-2010

The E64 6 Series carries BMW’s naturally aspirated V8 well ahead of the front axle, in a convertible body that gives up some of the coupe’s torsional stiffness for the folding roof. That combination means weight transfer under trail-braking and throttle happens later and more heavily than on a lighter chassis, and once the car starts to rotate, keeping the body settled through the transition is the hard part. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built around that specific problem.

Rather than chasing outright grip, this kit is set up to stabilise the body through high-speed direction changes so the car holds a controlled angle instead of snapping past it. For a heavy front-engined convertible being driven sideways, that stability through the transition matters more than outright stiffness.

What this coilover kit does for your 2004-2010 BMW 6 Series E64

Dropping the ride height on the E64 lowers the centre of gravity and shortens the distance the front-mounted V8’s mass has to travel as it shifts under transition, which is where this car loses composure first. The Drift Spec kit is built to manage that weight transfer through the bump stroke rather than resist it outright, so the initiation feels more predictable and the car settles into an angle instead of overshooting it. That matters on a chassis carrying convertible-spec bracing rather than the coupe’s stiffer shell, where body movement under load is more pronounced. The result on the E64 is a platform that stays composed as you cross from grip to slide and back, rather than one that lurches through the transition.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Drift Spec range specifically around competition drifting rather than adapting a general track kit for the discipline. The construction is built to stabilise the vehicle body through high-speed direction changes, holding the chassis settled while the car is turned hard enough to break traction, which is what lets a driver find and hold a clean angle rather than fighting the car through it. Ride height is dropped as part of the setup, and the bump stroke is calibrated around that lower height so the suspension still has usable travel left when the car is loaded up mid-slide rather than running out of movement at the worst moment. That pairing of lowered height and matched stroke is what XYZ Racing points to as the difference between a car that merely slides and one that can be controlled precisely while doing it. It’s a kit built for the entry, the transition, and the hold, not just for cornering grip.

Fitment for the Bmw 6 Series E64 (2004-2010)

This kit is fitted to the BMW 6 Series E64, 8-cylinder models built between 2004 and 2010, chassis code BM46. It is specified for the V8 drivetrain and body configuration of this generation rather than a generic 6 Series application, so it should only be matched to the 8-cylinder E64 within this build window.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
