The E64’s convertible bodyshell is heavier than the coupe it shares its chassis with, and that extra mass sits over a big front-mounted V8 that already loads the nose hard under braking. On loose or low-grip surfaces – gravel forestry roads, packed snow, a badly cambered B-road in January – that weight distribution turns against you fast if the dampers can’t keep both axles loaded and predictable.
XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around that problem rather than around a smooth circuit surface. Extended-travel pistons front and rear give the suspension somewhere to go when a wheel drops into a rut or a snow-packed dip mid-corner, instead of topping or bottoming out and unsettling the whole car.
What this coilover does for your 2004-2010 BMW 6 Series
Fit this coilover to a 2004-2010 6 Series and the biggest change you’ll feel is composure over broken surfaces the standard dampers were never asked to handle. The larger suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume XYZ Racing has built into this design keeps damping force consistent even as the shock works hard for an extended period – on a snowy pass or a long gravel stage, the fourth run feels the same as the first, rather than the dampers fading as oil temperature climbs. The three external adjustment knobs let you soften compression for a rutted forestry track one weekend and firm the car back up for road use the next, without pulling the dampers apart. On a car this heavy, keeping both ends of the chassis loaded evenly through a low-grip corner is what separates a controlled slide from a moment you don’t recover from.
About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover
XYZ Racing developed the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the surface is unpredictable and the suspension has to absorb hits a tarmac-spec coilover was never designed for. The defining feature is travel: both the front and rear dampers are built with a longer stroke than XYZ’s circuit-focused ranges, giving the chassis a bigger buffer before it runs out of suspension travel over a jump, a rut or a compression. Behind that sits an increased volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas, which lets the damper shed heat over a longer stint instead of the oil cooking and the damping force dropping away. Each corner gets three external adjustment knobs, and because the internal oil passages are deliberately small to control flow precisely at that setting, you may hear a faint noise from the damper over larger bumps – that’s the oil moving through the passage as designed, not a fault, and this coilover is built expecting exactly that kind of surface.
Fitment for the BMW 6 Series (2004-2010)
This kit is built for the BMW 6 Series E64, the V8 8-cylinder convertible produced from 2004 to 2010 under chassis code BM46. Confirm your car matches this chassis code and production span before ordering, as coilover geometry differs between the E64 convertible and the related E63 coupe.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
AluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
