The G22 4 Series was never meant to see gravel – BMW’s biggest coupe platform sits low, wide and street-biased from the factory, with barely enough clearance to clear a speed bump let alone a rutted stage road. The XYZ Racing Pro Rally coilover exists for owners building this chassis into something it was never sold as: a rally car, running loose surfaces at pace on either the 2WD or 4WD driveline and either the four- or six-cylinder engine.
Rally gravel and snow suspension is a different discipline to circuit coilovers – long travel, high-clearance ride height and mounting hardware that survives repeated compression events rather than sustained high-speed loading. This kit is built around that brief, for a 4 Series being prepared for top-flight rally competition rather than a trackday.
What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 BMW 4 Series G22 (2WD/4WD) 4/6cyl
Fit the Pro Rally kit and the G22’s factory geometry stops being the limiting factor. Ride height climbs enough to clear the rocks, ruts and washboard that would otherwise catch the standard sump guard within the first stage, while damping calibrated for repeated compression events keeps the chassis composed over crests and landings instead of bottoming out. Because the kit is specified across both the 2WD and 4WD versions of this platform, the extra unsprung mass and different weight bias of the xDrive driveline is accounted for in the valving, not bolted on as an afterthought. The same logic covers the four- and six-cylinder engines – the heavier six-cylinder nose gets damping and spring rates that reflect the extra weight over the front axle, not a setup shared unchanged with the four-pot. On a chassis this heavy for a rally build, that distinction is what keeps the car predictable when the surface changes underneath it.
About the Pro Rally coilover
XYZ Racing splits its rally gravel and snow suspension into two distinct build paths, and the Pro Rally sits at the sharp end of that split. The first approach bolts into the standard chassis mounting points with no structural changes – a route suited to an amateur-level build where the car stays close to its road-going structure. The second, professional approach is developed around a car whose body has already been modified for competition, with mounting points, clearance and reinforcement altered to suit. The Pro Rally kit is built for that second path: full-travel, high-clearance suspension developed for a car already committed to a rally build rather than a lightly-modified road car doing the occasional gravel event. Construction follows XYZ Racing’s rally-specific parts sourcing rather than a re-valved version of a road coilover, since a gravel or snow stage puts entirely different loads through the suspension than tarmac driving does. For a G22 platform this large and heavy, the gap between amateur and professional-spec installation matters more than it would on a smaller, lighter rally base.
Fitment for the BMW 4 Series G22 (2WD/4WD) 4/6cyl (2020-2026)
This kit is specified for the BMW 4 Series G22, chassis code BM120, across the full 2020 to 2026 production run. It covers both 2WD and 4WD (xDrive) drivetrain configurations and both the four-cylinder and six-cylinder engine options sold in the range. Confirm your exact drivetrain and engine before ordering, since the valving differs between the four- and six-cylinder builds.

Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
OE (factory) mountOERetains the OEM (factory) upper mount — preserves the original ride comfort, noise and vibration behaviour for a stock-like feel.
