XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G22 (2WD/4WD) 4/6CYL 2020-2026

The G22-generation BMW 4 Series is still a young chassis for drift builds – most examples on the scene are barely off warranty, which means the suspension geometry hasn’t been picked apart by the drift community the way an E46 or an S13 has. What is known is the weight distribution: a long-nosed coupe carrying either a turbo four or a straight six over the front axle, in 2WD or 4WD form, with all of that mass wanting to keep moving in a straight line the moment you break traction. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built to fight that tendency specifically, rather than as a general-purpose lowering kit pressed into drift duty.

For competitive drifting in a 4/6-cylinder G22, the brief is angle control under load – getting the body to stay flat through a transition so the rear axle holds its line instead of the chassis rolling and the rear stepping out further than you asked for.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 BMW 4 Series

Drop the ride height correctly on this kit and the car’s roll centre moves to where a drift setup actually wants it – low enough that weight transfer during a high-speed direction change doesn’t tip the body onto the outside tyre and drag the rear wide. That’s the difference between a car that snaps past the angle you’re holding and one that lets you carry it. The coilover’s bump stroke is calibrated for this specific failure mode: enough compression travel that the chassis settles rather than crashing through its range when you load it up mid-transition, and enough control on rebound that the body doesn’t pitch back and unsettle the rear a second time. On a 4/6-cylinder G22, where the front end carries real weight, that settled body is what lets the rear tyres do their job predictably lap after entry after entry, rather than the front dictating how much angle you’re allowed to hold.

About the Drift Spec coilover

This is a coilover built around one discipline rather than adapted for it. The design’s job is stabilising the car’s body specifically during high-speed turning, so the driver can hold a clean, repeatable angle instead of managing a chassis that’s still moving after the initial slide starts. Once the ride height is set correctly and the bump stroke is working as intended, that stability shows up directly as tighter drift control – the car answering steering and throttle inputs instead of the suspension adding its own delay to the equation. It’s tuned for the demands of competitive drift use rather than a fast-road ride and handling brief, which is the distinction worth understanding before fitting it to a 4/6-cylinder G22 4 Series.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series (2020-2026)

Confirmed for the G22-chassis BMW 4 Series across the 2020 to 2026 model years, covering both 2WD and 4WD drivetrain configurations and the 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engine variants (chassis code BM120). If your car sits within that year range and drivetrain split, this kit is built to match it.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
