XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G22 (2WD/4WD) 4/6CYL 2020-2026

The G22 4 Series carries its four or six cylinder engine well forward of the front axle, a legacy of BMW’s longitudinal CLAR platform, and that nose-heavy balance shows up hardest under trail-braking into a fast corner – more so on the 4WD xDrive cars, which carry extra hardware over the front wheels. Factory damping on the G22 is tuned toward comfort first, so body control loosens exactly when you’re asking the front end to do its hardest work. The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover is set up for that scenario: a 4 Series that sees the odd track day but still has to be liveable on the daily commute.

Where a street-only setup is built to absorb bumps and little else, Top Sport increases damping by 30 to 50 percent and lifts spring rate by roughly 2kg/mm over that baseline, giving the G22 the body control it needs when you’re pushing on a circuit, without turning the ride into a chore on the B-roads home.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 Bmw 4 Series G22 (2wd/4wd) 4/6cyl

Stiffen the front end by that same 2kg/mm and the G22’s nose stops diving under braking, keeping the contact patch loaded evenly from trail-braking through to the apex – the exact moment the factory setup gives up composure. The extra 30-50% damping range keeps body roll in check through direction changes, which matters on a coupe that carries more mass than the F32 it replaced. On 4WD xDrive cars, tighter front-end control also sharpens turn-in, since there’s more unsprung weight to settle before power gets to the road. Ride height is adjustable too, so you can drop the G22’s stance to lower the centre of gravity for a track day and raise it back for speed bumps and steep driveways during the week. Tyre wear evens out once the suspension is doing its job of keeping the contact patch flat instead of letting the chassis roll onto the outer shoulder.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s step up from a street-only spring and damper setting, calibrated using the same track-day experience the brand draws on for its faster kits. Damping force is increased by 30 to 50 percent over the street baseline, and spring rates go up by around 2kg/mm, giving the kit the reserve to absorb a sharp compression – a clipped kerb mid-corner, a heavy bump on a circuit exit – without the body kicking back and unsettling the chassis. That extra rate also keeps the tyre loaded onto the road surface, which is what delivers the grip a 4 Series with more power under the bonnet, six-cylinder cars especially, needs to put down cleanly. The result is a kit set up from aggressive-driving experience but held back just enough from full race spec to stay usable as a daily. It’s the spec XYZ Racing points owners toward when track days are a regular fixture rather than a one-off.
