XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E93 M3 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2007-2011

The E93 M3’s factory Electronic Damper Control was tuned for road comfort and occasional B-road blasts, not for the compression spikes a rutted rally stage throws at a car every few metres. That’s the gap this Tarmac Rally coilover for the BMW 3 Series E93 M3 closes: it removes the OEM damping electronics via the cancellation kit built into this variant and replaces them with a manually-set, sealed-stage-rated damper that reacts to broken tarmac instead of trying to smooth it over.

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally range around one job: absorbing hard, repeated impacts across cambered, patched and pothole-scarred stage surfaces without the body kicking sideways. On the retractable-hardtop E93, where the extra convertible weight sits high over the rear axle, that control matters even more than it would on the fixed-roof coupe – this is the spec for drivers running the E93 M3 on closed tarmac stages rather than a track day circuit.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 BMW 3 Series E93 M3

Fit this coilover and the difference shows on the first heavily rutted section: instead of pattering and stepping sideways over broken tarmac, the chassis stays loaded and the rear axle – carrying that extra hardtop mass – settles rather than hopping. Because the cancellation kit removes the factory EDC’s electronic control loop, the ride is no longer second-guessed by a comfort-biased algorithm; what the damper does is what you’ve set it to do, stage after stage. Front-end grip improves too: the S65 V8’s weight over the nose stays planted through direction changes instead of diving and unloading the outside front tyre, which on a stage car is the difference between a clean apex and a moment you have to catch. Traction off cambered corners and over mid-corner compressions is the real gain – putting power down on a surface that keeps changing grip level metre to metre is the whole point of Tarmac Rally-specific valving.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically for sealed-stage work, where the surface is uneven, patched and rarely flat for more than a few car lengths at a time. The valving is set to absorb the impact of that unevenness rather than transmit it straight into the body, so a big hit across a broken section doesn’t unsettle the car the way it would on a road-biased setup. That control is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping instead of skipping across the surface, and it’s the reason the car holds its line through a stage rather than getting looser run by run. XYZ arrived at these settings through its own Tarmac Rally programme, running this construction in competition before it reached the catalogue – this is a rally damper developed from stage experience, not a road coilover retuned after the fact.

Fitment for the BMW 3 Series E93 M3 (2007-2011)

This kit is specified for the E93-generation 3 Series M3 built between 2007 and 2011, chassis code BM91-C, in the Modified Rr Integrated configuration paired with the cancellation kit for the factory Electronic Damper Control. Fit this version if your E93 M3 left the factory with EDC fitted and you’re replacing that system outright rather than running alongside it.
