XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Toyota CAMRY XV20 (TYPE 2) 1997-2001

The XV20 Camry’s front-wheel drive layout creates a specific problem on gravel and snow stages: the bulk of the drivetrain mass sits directly over the driven axle, so repeated heavy compressions translate into the suspension with little mechanical sympathy. Getting a saloon of this weight and configuration through loose-surface competition stages requires dampers built for sustained abuse – extended travel, thermal resilience, and adjustment that can be reconfigured between stages.

These XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilovers address that brief directly. Developed for rally racing and rallycross, they go well beyond a standard competition damper in both stroke length and heat management capacity, built around the realities of running the XV20 generation Camry on loose and broken surfaces.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2001 Toyota CAMRY XV20 (TYPE 2)

Longer front and rear travel creates the buffer distance the XV20 needs over rough profiles – crests, compressions, and loose-surface ruts that would have a shorter-travel damper bottoming out under the saloon’s kerb weight. The enlarged oil and nitrogen gas volumes keep damping force stable across extended stage runs, preventing the thermal fade that affects conventional units once fluid temperature climbs under sustained hard use. Three adjustment knobs give the competition crew a genuine range of setup options between events – moving between gravel and snow configurations without a complete rebuild.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is a monotube competition damper built around the demands of rally and rallycross use. The defining specification is the increased suspension travel – both front and rear stroke is extended to provide the compliance that loose and broken surfaces demand, keeping the car stable where a standard-travel unit would run out of movement. Beyond stroke length, XYZ have enlarged the suspension oil capacity and nitrogen gas charge specifically to counter thermal build-up: sustained gravel-stage use generates significant heat in the damper, and a larger fluid volume raises the threshold at which that heat degrades the damping response. The three-knob adjustment uses a small oil hole passage design – an inherent characteristic of this valve architecture is audible feedback through large compressions, which is normal operating behaviour rather than a fault. On smoother circuit surfaces, the additional travel offers further compliance over kerbs and surface variation.

Fitment for the Toyota CAMRY XV20 (TYPE 2) (1997-2001)

Built specifically for the Toyota Camry XV20 Type 2, chassis code TO13, covering the 1997 to 2001 production run. The XV20 designation identifies the second-generation body, with Type 2 marking the updated variant within that series. Confirm your car falls within this generation before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
