XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota CAMRY XV20 (TYPE 2) 1997-2001

The XV20 Camry left the factory tuned for quiet motorway comfort, with soft, long-travel damping and a nose-heavy front-drive layout that leans hard on the front tyres. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Toyota Camry XV20 (type 2) takes that compliant base and rebuilds it for loose surfaces, where suspension travel and damper control matter far more than outright stiffness.

This is a gravel-stage setup first. Long springs and long stroke keep the wheels loaded over ruts, crests and washboard, while the damping is valved to control a heavy front end through fast, bumpy direction changes rather than to plant the car on smooth tarmac.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2001 Toyota Camry XV20 (type 2)

On gravel the payoff is grip you can actually use. The long-stroke design lets the front wheels follow a broken surface instead of skipping across it, so the Camry’s nose-heavy front axle keeps finding drive out of slow corners. The inverted strut body resists flex and the longer springs hold the car up over compressions, steadying the platform when you load it hard mid-corner. You feel it as a car that stays composed over washboard and soaks up the hits that would unsettle the standard comfort-tuned dampers, giving you confidence to carry speed where the surface is at its worst.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally coilover is built around the one component that decides a loose-surface result: the damper. XYZ Racing developed an inverted-tube construction specifically to cope with the range of surfaces a rally or rallycross car meets in a single event, from sandstone to snow to soft silt, each of which asks something different of the shock. The long stroke and long springs swallow chassis vibration and absorb the repeated impacts of a high-speed, bouncy stage, while keeping the structural reserve to take the lateral G-force the car generates when it is turned in hard. Every spring rate in the range has been set and tested by a working rally team rather than lifted from a tarmac catalogue, so the baseline is a genuine stage spec.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
