XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi AIRTREK 2001-2005

The Airtrek’s tall crossover body and 4G63-powered four-wheel-drive layout make it an unusual base for a loose-surface build, and that height is exactly what the XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is set up to manage. This is a long-travel damper aimed at gravel and rallycross work, where ground clearance and the ability to absorb ruts and compressions matter far more than the millimetre-low stance a tarmac car chases.

Where a circuit coilover drops ride height and stiffens everything, the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow does the opposite for the Mitsubishi Airtrek. It carries extra suspension travel at both ends, a bigger buffer zone before the damper runs out of stroke, and a larger volume of oil and nitrogen gas to keep things consistent across a long stage. For a heavy AWD wagon that transfers a lot of weight on loose surfaces, that extra stroke is what keeps the car settled rather than skipping over the rough.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2005 Mitsubishi Airtrek

On gravel and snow, the longer travel lets the suspension keep the tyres loaded through ruts and crests instead of unloading and washing wide. The increased oil and gas capacity resists the fade that creeps in as the dampers heat up over a sustained run, so the car feels much the same on the final mile as the first. Three adjustment knobs give you separate control over the damping behaviour, letting you firm the Airtrek up for hard-packed surfaces or open it out for deep, broken terrain. The net result is a 2001-2005 Mitsubishi Airtrek that stays composed and predictable when the road surface stops cooperating.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is engineered first for rally and rallycross duty rather than smooth circuits. The headline change over a tarmac kit is travel: longer stroke front and rear creates a bigger cushion against bottoming when the car lands hard or hits a deep compression. To support that, XYZ has increased the internal oil and nitrogen gas volume, which both stabilises the damper and stops the shock oil overheating and degrading after extended use. The damper runs three adjustment knobs built around a small oil-passage design. On big hits, oil forced through that small passage can produce a faint noise; this is a normal characteristic of the valving, not a fault, and it does not affect performance.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Airtrek (2001-2005)

This kit is built for the Mitsubishi Airtrek, chassis code MT05, covering the 2001 to 2005 model years. Confirm your chassis code and year against the listing before ordering to make sure this is the correct application for your car.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
