XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — Citroen ZX 1991-1998

The ZX earned its reputation on loose surfaces – Citroen took the platform to four Paris-Dakar wins across the early 1990s – and the chassis still responds to a stiff, properly valved competition setup. The XYZ Racing Pro Rally coilover for the Citroen ZX (chassis CI06, 1991-1998) is built for that world: gravel and snow stages where the suspension has to absorb impacts the showroom car was never asked to face.

This is competition hardware, not a fast-road compromise. The Pro Rally kit is aimed squarely at top-flight rally use, with the travel and damping authority a front-driven ZX needs when it is being pitched into a corner on a surface that is breaking up under power.

What this coilover kit does for your 1991-1998 Citroen ZX

Fit the Pro Rally kit and the first thing you feel is body control over broken ground. The longer-travel, rally-specific valving keeps the front tyres loaded through ruts and compressions where a standard ZX would crash into its bump stops. That counts for a lot on a front-wheel-drive car carrying most of its mass over the nose – the kit lets the front axle keep biting rather than washing wide on entry. The ZX’s passively self-steering rear axle, one of the platform’s cleverest tricks, only works when the rear is planted and predictable, and a true competition damper gives you that steadiness across a long stage. The result is a car that stays settled when the road surface stops being one.

About the Pro Rally coilover

Rally suspension for gravel and snow is a different discipline to road coilovers, and XYZ builds the Pro Rally line accordingly. The range is offered in two installation philosophies. The first is an amateur specification that bolts directly to the standard ZX chassis with no bodywork changes – a genuine rally damper for a club-level car that has not been cut about. The second is a professional specification, intended to be fitted after the shell has been modified for competition, so a fully prepped ZX can mount the dampers where the build demands. That split means you can run real stage-rally hardware whether your car is lightly prepared or stripped and seam-welded. Both share the rally-bred valving and the long-travel design that defines the Pro Rally type.

Fitment for the Citroen ZX (1991-1998)

This kit is cut for the Citroen ZX, chassis code CI06, covering the 1991 to 1998 production span. It suits the front-wheel-drive ZX across that range. Because the professional specification assumes a modified bodyshell, confirm how far your car has been prepared – and your exact variant – before committing.
