The 4WD E34 – the 525iX – is the odd one out in BMW’s 5 Series history: a big rear-drive-era saloon handed permanent four-wheel drive. For competitive drifting the demand on the chassis is specific – it has to stay settled and hold a deliberate angle once the rear breaks away at speed, on a long-wheelbase car that carries real weight. That is the brief the XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around for the 5 Series E34 4WD.

This is drift suspension, not a fast-road kit pressed into service. It is set up for sustained, controlled slip: dropping the E34’s ride height, working with a sensible bump stroke, and giving the driver the body control to point a heavy saloon exactly where it needs to sit through a high-speed turn.

What this coilover kit does for your 1987-1995 BMW 5 Series E34 4WD

After fitting, the first thing you feel is composure. The E34 sits lower, its body roll is reined in, and weight transfer becomes something you steer with rather than fight. Three adjustment knobs let you set the damping behaviour to suit a circuit’s rhythm, so initiation is predictable and the rear holds its line once it’s loaded. Lower the car onto a proper bump stroke and the chassis stops floating over mid-corner inputs, which is what lets you carry and hold angle instead of correcting it.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This coilover was developed specifically for drift use rather than adapted from a road platform. Its core job is keeping the body stable through high-speed cornering so the driver can set and sustain a clean angle, and that stability is what improves drift performance once the ride height is lowered and the bump stroke is dialled correctly. Damping is governed by three adjustment knobs feeding a deliberately small oil passage. One consequence of that small-orifice design is worth knowing up front: hitting large bumps forces oil through the narrow passage and can produce a faint noise. That is normal and expected. The kit is built for the smooth, predictable surface of circuit tracks, where sharp bumps aren’t a factor.

Fitment for the BMW 5 Series E34 4WD (1987-1995)

This kit is matched to the four-wheel-drive E34 5 Series (chassis code 4WD, the 525iX) across the 1987 to 1995 production span. Confirm your car is the 4WD variant rather than a standard rear-drive E34 before ordering, as the platforms differ.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
