XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Porsche 993 CARRERA-2 1993-1998

The 993 Carrera-2’s rear-engine layout is both its competitive asset and its primary challenge in a drift context. That flat-six hanging behind the rear axle creates a weight distribution that punishes passive suspension setups: on corner entry, the rear mass swings outward faster than any front-engined car, generating angle quickly but also demanding fast, accurate opposite lock. Factory damper rates were calibrated for road stability, not sustained high-speed yaw.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the Porsche 993 Carrera-2 addresses this directly. The kit is built specifically for drift competition – the damping calibration and ride-height range are configured around stabilising the body during the lateral loads that define sideways cornering, helping the driver hold and adjust angle rather than spend attention managing the suspension.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1998 Porsche 993 CARRERA-2

Running a 993 at drift heights changes the car significantly. Lowering the ride height drops the centre of gravity, reducing the pendulum arc of that rear-heavy mass and making the car’s rotation more measured. The bump stroke – remaining upward suspension travel once ride height is set – is sized for drift use, which matters here: a 993 in full yaw places substantial lateral load through the rear multi-link, and running out of bump travel mid-drift results in a sudden loss of contact control. The Drift Spec calibration accounts for this, stabilising the body during high-speed turns to produce consistent, repeatable angle. Front behaviour improves in parallel: with a lower centre of gravity, the lightweight front axle stays more connected during entry phases, keeping steering feel live when you need it most.

About the Drift Spec coilover

This coilover was developed with competitive drifting as the specific design brief – not a road kit run firm, but a setup calibrated for the precise high-speed, high-yaw window where drift competition takes place. The engineering focus is vehicle body stabilisation at sustained cornering angles, giving the driver the support needed to control angle without the suspension introducing its own variables. Lowering the ride height in conjunction with the correct bump stroke is central to how the kit delivers: the geometry stays consistent under lateral loading, allowing the driver to adjust line and angle without fighting the hardware. XYZ Racing’s stated development goal for this series is bringing drift control to an excellent condition – a car that gives the driver authority over its attitude, not one that undermines it.

Fitment for the Porsche 993 CARRERA-2 (1993-1998)

Manufactured for the Porsche 993 Carrera-2, chassis code PO08, this kit covers all model years from 1993 to 1998. It is specified for the rear-wheel-drive Carrera-2 variant only – the Carrera-4 and Turbo use different front suspension geometry and are not covered by this fitment.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
