XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S/ GT C 2015-2023

The AMG GT S/GT C’s front-engine, rear-transaxle layout puts real weight over the rear axle even before you load a car with spare wheels and service kit for a stage – and standard dampers were never built to soak up washboard gravel at speed while keeping that balance predictable. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover is built for exactly that brief: sustained, aggressive impact loading on loose surfaces, not a track apex.

This is a rally-spec damper, not a fast-road lowering kit dressed up in a rally name. It exists to keep the AMG GT planted and the axle loaded correctly when the surface underneath it is sand, snow or broken shale rather than tarmac.

What this coilover does for your 2015-2023 Mercedes Benz AMG GT S/ GT C

The inverted tube design puts the larger diameter tube at the top of the damper body, which lowers unsprung mass and keeps the piston better protected from the debris a gravel stage throws at it. Long stroke travel gives the GT S/GT C’s suspension somewhere to go when a compression hits harder than expected, rather than transmitting that hit straight into the chassis and the rear transaxle mounts. The long spring works with that stroke to absorb chassis vibration rather than fight it, which matters on a car this heavy when it’s crossing washboard ruts at speed. Together, the setup is built to bear extreme G-force through direction changes without the rear end stepping out of line, and to keep the AMG GT’s nose-heavy-under-braking, rear-loaded-under-power character controllable when the grip level underneath it is constantly changing.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most punishing environment in motorsport. The inverted tube construction is a direct response to that: it’s designed to cope with sand, snow and silt without the piston seals taking the kind of hammering a conventional strut would. Long stroke travel and a correspondingly long spring let the damper absorb chassis vibration and shrug off aggressive high-speed impacts from bouncy, broken road surfaces, rather than passing that energy through to the chassis. Every spring rate on offer has been set using data from an actual rally racing team, not derived from road or circuit testing – meaning the base tune reflects what a car under stage conditions actually needs before you start fine-tuning for your own event or surface.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
