XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S/ GT C 2015-2023

The AMG GT S and GT C carry their M178 twin-turbo V8 up front and the gearbox out back on a rear transaxle, a layout built for near-even weight distribution but one that still asks a lot of the rear axle under power – especially on the GT C, with its wider rear track and active rear-wheel steering. XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilover is built for that kind of car: its damping settings weren’t arrived at on a bench, they came out of direct participation in circuit racing.

For serious track and time-attack use, that shows up in how the GT S/GT C settles onto its outside wheels mid-corner rather than rolling into it, and how much of that rear-drive power actually gets to the road on corner exit. This is a track-focused kit for a car whose factory dampers were tuned around ride comfort first.

What this coilover does for your 2015-2023 Mercedes Benz AMG GT S/ GT C

Fitted to the AMG GT S/GT C, this Racing Spec coilover firms up body control exactly where the car needs it: keeping the nose settled under trail braking so turbo lag doesn’t catch you out mid-corner, and controlling rear-axle squat so weight transfer through the transaxle doesn’t unload the outside rear tyre on the way out of a corner. Ride height is adjustable independently of spring preload, so you can correct the GT’s factory stance once wider track-day tyres or aero go on. Because the damping curve comes from circuit-racing data rather than road-car tuning, the GT C’s rear-steer system has a more consistent platform to react against at speed instead of working against a softer factory damper. The car changes direction with less of the float you get from the standard adaptive setup once it’s pushed hard.

About the Racing Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec range is the brand’s dedicated circuit line, built for competition rather than adapted from a road kit afterwards. The damping settings were shaped through direct involvement in circuit racing series, including the World Touring Car Championship, which is a different starting point to a fast-road coilover simply retuned stiffer for track days. Where a GT S or GT C has already had significant supporting work done – wider wheels, aero, a stripped interior, or genuine race-spec brakes – XYZ Racing also offers a bespoke shock absorber built around that specific build sheet and the circuit it will run on. That route means submitting details of what else has changed on the car and where it’s headed, rather than choosing a fixed damping curve off a shelf. For an AMG GT built towards genuine race or time-attack duty, that custom option sits above the standard Racing Spec kit rather than replacing it.
