XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz AMG GT/ GT Roadster 2017-2023

The AMG GT rides on a front-mid-mounted M178 V8 and a chassis tuned from the factory for a fairly aggressive front-to-rear weight split, which means the standard suspension has to compromise between everyday compliance and the sort of body control the platform is actually capable of. Push a stock GT or GT Roadster into a fast B-road or a track day and that compromise shows up as float over compressions and a rear axle that needs more resistance to load transfer than the factory setting gives it.

The Top Sport coilover kit is XYZ Racing’s answer for the GT owner who wants that gap closed without giving up the car as a road machine. It raises spring rate and damping stiffness over street-oriented settings – enough to control the GT’s mass through direction changes and heavy braking, not so much that the Roadster’s structure gets punished on a B-road.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2023 Mercedes Benz AMG GT/ GT Roadster

Fitting this kit tightens up the vertical control that the AMG GT loses under hard cornering and heavy braking on the standard setup, so the nose settles rather than diving and the rear stays planted when you’re back on the throttle out of a corner. The increased spring rate reduces the amount the body moves under load, which keeps the GT’s contact patches working rather than chasing weight transfer – a meaningful gain on a car this heavy through direction changes. Ride height becomes adjustable, letting you correct the stance and re-centre the wheel arch gap that Cool Bear’s UK customers commonly ask for after lowering, without resorting to cut springs. Because the kit is built around a street-plus-track brief rather than a pure circuit set-up, the GT Roadster keeps enough compliance for daily and motorway use while gaining the composure that occasional track days demand.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ Racing builds the Top Sport range around a straightforward premise: increase damping force by roughly 30-50% and spring rate by around 2kg/mm over a standard street set-up, so the kit can absorb sharp inputs – potholes, expansion joints, kerb strikes – without transmitting the full jolt into the chassis or unsettling the body. That extra damping force is what suppresses body movement on uneven surfaces and keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded rather than skipping, which is where the traction gain actually comes from. The settings applied across the range come directly from XYZ Racing’s own track-day and race programme, carried over into a kit that’s calibrated for aggressive road driving as much as circuit use. It’s a deliberately different target to a full race coilover – the Top Sport is pitched at the driver who wants a car that still rides properly between track days, not a stripped-out lap-time special.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz AMG GT/ GT Roadster (2017-2023)

This kit is built for the ME52 chassis code covering the AMG GT and GT Roadster from 2017 to 2023. Coverage spans both the coupe and Roadster body styles across that production run, so confirm your build year falls within the range before ordering.
