XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Mazda 323 1994-1998

The BG and BA-generation Mazda 323 is a light, willing front-driver with soft factory damping that rewards a stiffer, height-adjustable setup almost more than any single other modification. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover for the 1994-1998 323 is built for exactly that brief – sealed-surface stage work, fast B-roads, and the kind of repeated load reversals that turn a stock 323’s bushings and dampers into porridge inside a season.

Tarmac Rally sits between the road-biased Super Sport and a full circuit kit. It carries the spring rates and damping authority to keep the front end planted under trail-braking into a hairpin, while still living with broken UK tarmac rather than fighting it.

What this coilover does for your 1994-1998 Mazda 323

Fitted to a 323, the Tarmac Rally kit transforms how the car carries speed through a sequence of bends. Body roll on turn-in is cut sharply, which lets the inside front tyre stay loaded rather than scrubbing, and the chassis stops the slow secondary motion that the OE struts allow over crests. Independent damping adjustment means you can firm up the rebound to keep the nose flat under braking without making the car skip across mid-corner ridges. Ride-height adjustment via the lower bracket – not by winding down on the spring perch – means you can drop the centre of gravity for stage pace without losing usable spring travel. The result is a 323 that turns in on command, settles immediately, and stops surprising the driver on bumpy exits.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is a monotube, 30-way adjustable kit with separately tuned spring rates intended for sealed-surface competition use. Construction is full-length adjustable, so damper stroke is preserved when you lower the car – a critical point on a short-wheelbase platform like the 323, where running out of bump travel is the difference between a fast stage and a broken sump. Spring rates are higher than the Super Sport but stop short of the full Circuit Master ladder, putting the kit in the window most tarmac-rally and fast-road customers actually use. Top mounts and pillowball options are configurable depending on whether camber adjustment is wanted at the strut top. The kit ships ready for installation onto a standard 323 chassis without modification to the body shell.

Fitment for the Mazda 323 (1994-1998)

Confirmed fitment for the Mazda 323 chassis code MA14, model years 1994 to 1998 inclusive. The kit covers the BA generation hatchback and saloon variants across this window. Confirm your year and chassis code before ordering, particularly on later 1998 cars that overlap with the BJ generation.
