XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda INTEGRA RSX DC5 2001-2006

The DC5 was sharp enough on tarmac that most owners forget Honda built it on the same global platform as the Civic Type R EP3 – same K20A, same close-ratio six-speed, same eager front end. Drop it onto a loose-surface stage and that eagerness becomes a liability: the nose darts on every camber change, the rear skips over corrugations, and the standard struts run out of travel before the corner does. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built to fix exactly that.

This is the rally-specific damper from the XYZ catalogue, with an inverted-tube design, long-stroke shocks and long springs chosen to keep a DC5 planted across gravel, sandstone, snow and silt. The spring rates have been signed off by rally teams in actual competition, not bench-tested on a lift.

What this coilover does for your 2001-2006 Honda Integra RSX DC5

Gravel stage work asks two things of the damper that tarmac rarely does: it has to swallow a big hit at speed without packing down, and it has to keep the contact patch loaded over surfaces that move underneath the tyre. The inverted-tube layout puts the larger damper body up top, where it resists side-load from the strut and reduces the bending stress that wrecks conventional shocks on rough stages. Long-stroke pistons give the DC5’s front axle room to extend into ruts and compress over crests without topping or bottoming.

The result on a DC5 is a car that stops skipping under braking on washboard sections, holds a steadier line through fourth-gear sweepers, and stays composed when you lean on the K20’s mid-range out of a slow hairpin. Spring lengths chosen for full suspension travel mean the chassis stays settled instead of unloading every time the surface drops away.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ’s purpose-developed rally damper, separate from the road and circuit ranges. The headline construction choice is the inverted strut: the damper tube sits at the top of the assembly, the rod runs downward, and side-loading is carried by the heavier-section outer tube rather than the piston rod. That matters on gravel because the lateral abuse stages put through a strut would bend or score a conventionally-mounted rod within a season.

Stroke length is set long deliberately. Rally gravel is defined by big vertical inputs – yumps, ruts, mid-corner compressions – and the damper needs working travel to absorb them without slamming into the bump-stop. The springs are matched to that stroke so the chassis sits on the dampers, not the stops, even when loaded under G-force through a fast right-hander on loose surface. Every spring rate in the range has been validated by XYZ’s competition rally teams across the surface types the kit is sold for: sandstone, snow, silt and mixed gravel.

Fitment for the Honda Integra RSX DC5 (2001-2006)

This kit fits the DC5-chassis Integra / RSX produced 2001-2006, covering both the Japanese-market Integra Type R and the North-American-market RSX Type-S that share the same suspension geometry. Confirm your car is on the DC5 chassis before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
