The 488 GTB is not the obvious drift platform. Mid-engined, twin-turbo, 661bhp routed through the rear wheels, and a chassis Maranello tuned for circuit precision rather than sustained sideways angle – which is precisely why the cars that do end up on private airfields and closed circuits need a suspension package built specifically for the discipline. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover is that package: a Ferrari 488 GTB coilover developed for competitive drifting, not repurposed from a fast-road kit.
This kit fits the FE03-1 chassis variant without the factory hydraulic lift system, covering 2016-2026 build cars. Spec it for an entry car, a demo build, or a privately-campaigned 488 running fixed-height up front, and the geometry and damping logic are aimed at one job – holding a deliberate, controllable angle at speed.
What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB
Lowering the 488 on Drift Spec dampers settles the centre of mass and shortens the bump stroke into a window where weight transfer becomes a tool you can steer with, rather than something the standard car works to suppress. Initial turn-in sharpens, the rear breaks away on a predictable throttle input, and the transition between grip and slip stops being a cliff edge.
The damping is set up to hold the chassis stable through the high-speed entry phase that mid-engined cars find difficult sideways – that long moment where the rear wants to either snap or wash, and the driver needs the platform to simply sit at the angle the steering and throttle have asked for. Body roll is controlled without going so stiff that the rear tyre stops being able to load up and bite when you ask it to.
About the Drift Spec coilover
XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec specifically for drift competition – it is not a circuit kit with a softer rear or a fast-road kit dropped lower. The design priority is vehicle-body stability through high-speed turning so the driver can set and hold a perfect angle, and the secondary priority is enhancing drift performance once the car is committed.
Ride height drops are paired with a bump stroke deliberately matched to drift control. That phrase covers a real engineering decision – too much droop and the inside rear unloads mid-transition, too little and the car refuses to rotate. XYZ has set the working range so that once the height is dialled in, the controllability of the slide sits in what their development drivers describe as excellent condition. For a chassis as sensitive to platform behaviour as the 488, that matched bump stroke matters more than headline damping numbers.
Fitment for the Ferrari 488 GTB (2016-2026)
This kit is specific to the FE03-1 chassis variant of the 488 GTB without the factory hydraulic nose-lift system. Build years 2016 through 2026 are covered. Cars fitted with the optional front-axle lift require a different part number – check the front strut hardware on the car before ordering.
