XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (with hydraulic lift, excl.control system) 2010-2015

The Ferrari 458’s mid-mounted 4.5-litre V8 sits behind the cabin and ahead of the rear axle, and that mass distribution rewards a damper that can handle sudden vertical inputs without letting the chassis pitch into the next corner unsettled. On a sealed-stage tarmac rally – broken kerbing, expansion joints, the occasional crested apex taken at three-figure speeds – the factory magnetorheological setup was tuned for road and circuit, not for impact absorption at rally pace.

This XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (with hydraulic lift, excl. control system) is built for that specific job. It takes a chassis with serious downforce potential and gives it a damper that can soak up a kerb strike at full lock without spitting the car sideways.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

The Tarmac Rally damping curve is shaped to swallow the sudden compression of a fast bump, then release the wheel back onto the road without the rebound spike that pitches a mid-engined car into oversteer. On a 458, that translates into more traction off the apex when the rear tyre is being asked to put down V8 torque over a road surface that’s been beaten up by winter freeze-thaw.

You’ll feel the front end stay loaded under heavy trail-braking into a slow hairpin, which on the 458 is the moment the nose has historically wanted to go light. The rear stays planted under throttle on corner exit instead of skipping. Body control is taut enough for committed driving but the chassis no longer crashes through sharp inputs the way a stiff circuit setup would on the same road.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This damper is built specifically for tarmac rally use, where the surface is sealed but rarely smooth. The valving is set up to absorb the impact of uneven pavement and big bumps in a way that suppresses body shock and feeds traction back into the tyre rather than fighting it. The result is a chassis that stays composed when a road-circuit setup would be at the limit of its travel.

Every setting on this kit comes out of XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme – damping rates, spring choice and travel are derived from competition data, not lifted from a generic motorsport menu. The brief is straightforward: stability over broken surfaces, predictable handling at rally speeds, and a chassis the driver can lean on through a corner without second-guessing what the rear will do over the next bump.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

This kit is specified for the FE06 chassis 458 Italia and 458 Spider built between 2010 and 2015, in the configuration fitted with the factory hydraulic nose-lift system but supplied without the control system itself. Confirm your car’s lift hardware matches before ordering, as the bracketry and clearances are specific to this variant.
