XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (with hydraulic lift, excl.control system) 2010-2015

A mid-engined Ferrari 458 on a gravel stage is a deliberate choice, not an obvious one. The F136 flat-plane V8 behind the cabin gives this chassis a polar moment most rally builds never have to manage, and the factory ride height was set for Fiorano kerbs, not Welsh forest tracks. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the 458 / 458 Spider (FE06) is the long-travel, inverted-strut suspension you fit when you are converting one of these cars into something a co-driver can actually call pace notes for.

This kit is built for loose-surface stage work – gravel, sand, silt, snow – on the FE06 chassis between 2010 and 2015, including Spider variants that retain the factory hydraulic lift system (the lift system itself is excluded from this damper kit; it remains operational).

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

Long stroke is the headline. Where a Top Sport coilover is built to keep a tyre planted over a kerb, this Gravel Rally damper is built to keep it planted over a compression-rut at speed, then again over the yump that follows. The extended travel lets the 458’s relatively short factory wheel-movement window open up enough for the rear V8 mass to settle between hits, instead of bottoming and unloading the inside tyre mid-corner.

The inverted-strut design puts the larger-diameter body up top, where bending loads are highest under hard cornering and braking on uneven ground. For a car as torsionally rigid as the 458, that translates into a damper that flexes less under side-load and reacts more consistently to small steering inputs over broken surfaces – which is what stage drivers actually rate cars on.

Long progressive springs paired to the long stroke absorb the high-frequency chatter of gravel without choking off the slow-speed compliance you need for traction off slow hairpins.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s purpose-engineered rally damper, separate from their tarmac and circuit lines. The hardware is inverted-tube construction – chosen specifically to handle the side-loads and stone strikes that destroy conventional twin-tube units on a stage. Long stroke and long spring length are the defining geometry: the shock has to absorb chassis vibration from sandstone, snow and silt, attack high-speed bouncy sections without packing down, and still hold the car under the lateral G-load of a fast sweeper.

Spring rates across the line are not theoretical. Every rate setting is validated against XYZ’s own rally programme, with feedback fed back from drivers running the dampers in competition. For a chassis as specific as the FE06 – mid-engine layout, aluminium spaceframe, factory hydraulic nose-lift on most cars – that programme-derived baseline matters more than spec-sheet damping curves.

Construction targets the most aggressive road condition in motorsport: rally cross and gravel stage. If the surface is loose, broken, and unpredictable, this is the line XYZ built for.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

Engineered for the FE06 chassis 458 and 458 Spider built between 2010 and 2015, including cars retaining the factory hydraulic front lift system. The lift mechanism itself is not included with and not controlled by this damper kit – the OE lift stays in place and operational. Confirm your chassis code and lift-system configuration before ordering.

A 458 on gravel is a rare build, and the spec needs to match the stage and the surface. Pick your spring rates and configuration below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
