XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (without hydraulic lift system) 2010-2015

The 458 was never built to slide. Its mid-engined 4.5-litre F136 sits behind the cabin to keep the polar moment tight, the e-diff is calibrated to put the power down rather than break it loose, and the standard suspension is tuned to flatter a fast lap – not to hold a sustained angle at full lock. Repurposing an Italia for competitive drifting means rewriting how the rear axle behaves when the throttle is pinned and the steering is past the stops.

That is the brief the XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover is built to. It is a chassis-specific kit for the 2010-2015 458 and 458 Spider (FE05, cars without the front-axle hydraulic lift), set up to give a driver predictable rear rotation, a stable platform under angle, and a ride height low enough that the kerb weight loads the outside tyre the moment the car takes a set.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

Drop the ride height into the working window of this kit and the 458 stops fighting the entry. Weight transfers earlier, the rear breaks away on your input rather than on a mid-corner load spike, and the front end bites hard enough that initiation off the brakes is a deliberate movement instead of a gamble. The shortened bump stroke keeps the chassis from running out of travel when you load the outside corner under angle, which is where most converted supercars go light and snap.

On a fast transition the platform stays settled, so the swap from lock to lock doesn’t unsettle the rear and pitch you off line. The trade-off is honest: this is a setup for a car that lives at events. Ride quality drops, the daily-driver compliance the standard 458 trades on is gone, and the kit assumes you want it that way.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s purpose-tuned drift platform, not a circuit kit with softer rebound. The valving is built around stabilising the body in high-speed turn-in so the driver can commit to angle without the chassis loading and unloading mid-slide, and the geometry of the lowered ride height plus controlled bump stroke is what XYZ credits with cleaning up the lock-to-lock controllability of the car.

Construction follows the rest of the XYZ catalogue: a serviceable damper body, threaded lower mount for independent ride-height and preload adjustment, and shock and spring rates chosen for sustained sideways load rather than apex speed. The kit lands in a category most coilover ranges skip – the supercar-platform drift build – and treats the Ferrari as a chassis that needs its own rate set, not a generic mid-engined template.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

This kit is specific to the FE05-chassis 458 Italia and 458 Spider, model years 2010 to 2015, built without the optional front-axle hydraulic lift system. Cars fitted with the factory nose-lift use a different front damper package and are not covered by this part number. Confirm your car’s spec before ordering – the lift option is the deciding factor.

Pick your spring rate and damping spec for the Drift Spec build below.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Top mounts included with your kit
