XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (without hydraulic lift system) 2010-2015

A 458 on gravel is not a thought experiment – it is a real, growing slice of historic and modern rally culture, and the platform’s mid-engined balance and 4.5-litre flat-plane V8 deserve a damper built for the surface, not adapted to it. The factory chassis was tuned for billiard-smooth circuits and Fiorano kerbs, which is precisely why it punishes drivers the moment the road turns to sandstone, snow, or rutted forest stage.

These XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilovers are built around an inverted-tube damper body with long-stroke travel and long-spring geometry, intended to absorb the kind of high-speed compressions and lateral G that a 458 generates on loose surfaces. They replace the standard non-lift suspension on F142 cars built between 2010 and 2015, including Spider variants without the hydraulic nose lifter.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

Gravel work asks suspension to do two contradictory things at once: soak up violent vertical hits while still controlling a 1,565 kg mid-engined car that wants to rotate on the throttle. The inverted-tube construction puts the larger-diameter outer tube up top where bending loads concentrate, which improves rigidity under braking dives and stops shaft flex when the front axle is loaded mid-corner over a rough crest. Long stroke means the wheel keeps tracking the surface instead of skipping off it, which is what gives a Ferrari 458 traction on gravel where the OE setup simply runs out of compression travel. Lateral G under turn-in is handled by the longer springs, so the car carries speed through off-camber stage sections without binding the damper.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s surface-specific damper for rally and rallycross applications – explicitly the most aggressive road conditions in motorsport. Construction centres on an inverted tube body to handle the lateral and bending loads of stage driving, with long-stroke internals matched to long springs so the suspension can ride out heavy compression hits without bottoming. Spring rates across the range are set in conjunction with active rally racing teams rather than picked from a circuit catalogue, which matters because gravel rates are softer in vertical compression but firmer in shaft control than tarmac rates. The damper is engineered to bear the G-forces a rally car generates while turning at speed, and to absorb the chassis vibration of sustained high-speed bouncy surfaces – sand, snow, silt – without the fade you get from a circuit damper asked to do a job it was never designed for.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

This kit fits F142 chassis 458 Italia coupe and 458 Spider models from 2010 through 2015, in the build specification without the factory hydraulic front lift system. Cars equipped with the OE nose-lifter use a different front strut architecture and require a different kit. Confirm your car’s specification before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
