XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (without hydraulic lift system) 2010-2015

The Ferrari 458’s mid-engined balance is famously delicate over broken surfaces – that flat-plane V8 sits high and rearward, and the standard magnetorheological dampers were tuned for billiard-smooth circuits, not the patched bitumen of a closed-road tarmac stage. Lift the 458 onto a sealed-stage rally setup and the chassis transforms: weight transfer slows down, the front axle stops skating over compressions, and the rear stops loading and unloading in the corner exit phase that destroys traction on uneven asphalt.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Ferrari 458 and 458 Spider (chassis FE05, non-lift cars only) is built specifically for that environment. This is not a circuit coilover pressed into rally service – the damping curves come directly from XYZ Racing’s tarmac rally programme, where the priority is absorbing mid-corner impacts without unsettling a 562bhp car at committed speed.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider

The Tarmac Rally damper is engineered to soak up the jolt when the 458 crosses a sharp ridge or kerb-edge transition mid-corner, rather than transmitting that hit straight into the tyre contact patch. On a 458, where the rear axle carries the V8 mass and the front is light and quick to wash, that matters: every kerb strike or compression that would normally make the rear step out is converted into controlled wheel travel. The result is a car that holds its line over surfaces the standard suspension would skip across, and a front end that stays planted under trail-braking into tight stage corners. Body control stays tight enough for the 458 to feel like a 458, while compliance comes back in the long-travel hits that would otherwise lift a wheel.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This damper is purpose-developed for sealed-stage tarmac rally, where the surface is asphalt but the inputs are far harsher than any circuit. Every setting carried in the Tarmac Rally specification has been validated in XYZ Racing’s own tarmac competition programme – not theorised on a dyno. The construction prioritises absorbing impacts from uneven pavement: when the car crosses a significant bump, the damper suppresses body movement aggressively while still allowing the wheel to follow the road, so the tyre stays loaded and traction is preserved. Stability over choppy surfaces is the defining trait, and it’s what makes the difference between a car you can drive at ten-tenths on a stage and one you have to lift for every compression. For a 458 owner running closed-road events, hill climbs on rougher venues, or a road-rally schedule that punishes circuit coilovers, this is the correct specification.

Fitment for the Ferrari 458 / 458 Spider (2010-2015)

This kit is for the FE05-platform Ferrari 458 and 458 Spider built between 2010 and 2015, specifically cars NOT fitted with the factory hydraulic nose-lift system. If your car has the front-axle lift option, this kit is not compatible – lift-equipped 458s require a different damper specification. Confirm your car’s spec before ordering.
