XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES F11 4WD (OE FOR REAR AIR SYURT) 2010-2017

The F11 Touring on xDrive is a curious starting point for a drift build – a 1,900kg estate with a front diff in the way and factory rear air springs holding up the back end. That OE air setup is the bit you’re replacing here, and it’s the bit that defines this kit: XYZ’s Drift Spec swaps the rear bags for a coilover assembly engineered to take repeat lock-to-lock abuse without the wallowing recovery a road-biased damper gives you mid-transition.

For an F11 being prepped for grassroots drift events or angle days, this is the suspension that lets the chassis behave like a rear-driver should once the front axle is decoupled or the centre diff is locked rear-biased. Sharp initiation, a settled mid-corner platform, and a predictable rate of weight transfer when you stab the throttle to extend the angle.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2017 Bmw 5 Series F11 4WD (OE FOR REAR AIR SYURT)

Drop the F11 onto a fixed-rate spring and the body stops floating through transitions – the front end loads predictably when you flick it, and the rear stays planted on extension rather than topping out the way an air strut does. Damper tuning on the Drift Spec is shaped around high-speed cornering loads, so you get a stable platform when you’re committed at angle rather than the body taking a half-second to catch up. Lowering the ride height with the right bump stroke also keeps the roll centres sensible for a long-wheelbase Touring, which matters when you’re holding a line through a sweeper. Steering response sharpens, and the rear axle reports back through the chassis instead of through a rubber bladder. For a 5 Series being repurposed for competitive drifting, that’s the difference between a car you fight and a car you steer.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ’s purpose-tuned drift platform – a damper and spring package built around the demands of high-speed cornering and angle work rather than circuit lap times or road comfort. The special design focuses on stabilising the body during aggressive transitions, which is where most road-derived coilovers give up and start to wallow. Spring rates and damper valving are matched to support extended lock and a controlled rate of weight shift, so the chassis behaves the same on the third transition as it does on the first. Ride-height adjustment is critical to the package: drop the car to the right height with proper bump stroke preserved and the geometry works with the damping rather than against it. XYZ describe the result as bringing drift controllability into excellent condition, which in practice means the car answers inputs without the lag, float or recovery wobble that disqualifies a road coilover from serious angle use.

Fitment for the Bmw 5 SERIES F11 4WD (OE FOR REAR AIR SYURT) (2010-2017)

Chassis code BM117, covering the F11 Touring in xDrive four-wheel-drive specification from 2010 to 2017. This fitment specifically targets cars running the factory rear air suspension – the kit is built to convert that rear setup to a coilover, so confirm your car is the OE air-spring variant before ordering. Front struts are the standard coilover configuration.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
