XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F83 M4 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The F83 M4 Convertible carries roughly 100kg of folding-roof hardware over the rear axle that the Coupé doesn’t, and the factory EDC dampers were tuned around that mass with closed-loop electronics calling the shots. Strip the EDC out for a coilover swap and the dash lights up – which is exactly the problem the supplied cancellation kit solves. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover gives you a mechanically-damped chassis built for sealed-stage rally work, and a plug-in harness that keeps the M4’s CAN bus quiet.

This is the spec for owners running the F83 on closed-road tarmac stages, sprint events, or fast B-roads where the standard EDC tune simply runs out of travel. The S55 twin-turbo’s torque delivery and the convertible body’s flex demand a damper that controls weight transfer without skipping over mid-corner ripples.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 Bmw 4 Series F83 M4 (cancellation Kit For Electronic Damping)

On a stage surface where the tarmac breaks up over crests and compressions, the Tarmac Rally damping curve keeps the contact patch loaded through the unsettled section instead of skipping wide. You feel it most in the F83 under trail-braking into a tightening corner – the nose stays planted, the rear doesn’t get light over kerbs, and the chassis settles quickly between direction changes. Ride height adjustment lets you set the convertible’s slightly higher front splitter clearance for stage debris while still tucking the rear to balance the S55’s weight bias. Damping adjustment dials in compliance for cold tarmac in the morning and stiffens up as rubber goes on the road through the day. The included cancellation kit means the EDC fault doesn’t strobe on the cluster, so the car’s stability and traction systems stay armed for the road sections between stages.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally series is XYZ Racing’s sealed-surface stage damper, with settings drawn directly from their tarmac rally programme rather than circuit work. The valving is built to soak up the kind of impact that finishes lesser dampers on a single stage – sharp-edged surface breaks, repaired patches, and the unweighting that happens over crests at speed. The construction prioritises shaft control under big single impacts while suppressing secondary body movement, so the chassis doesn’t continue to oscillate after a hit. Traction is the headline benefit: by keeping the tyre loaded through bumps rather than letting the body rebound past it, mechanical grip survives the rough sections. This particular kit also bundles the electronics cancellation hardware required to retire the F83’s EDC system cleanly, which is the install detail most M4 owners get caught out by.
