XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 2 SERIES F87 M2 Competition 2018-2021

The F87 M2 Competition is the last analogue-feeling M car from Munich before the platform went G-series, and that’s precisely why drift competitors keep dragging them onto skid pads. The S55-powered chassis carries 410bhp through a short wheelbase and an active M differential, but the standard adaptive dampers were tuned for a stiff road brief, not for holding a sustained 60-degree angle at the clipping point.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover replaces that compromise with a kit built specifically for competitive drifting on the M2 Competition. Geometry, damping, and ride-height windows are set up to keep the rear predictable when the front is at full lock and the throttle is buried.

What this coilover does for your 2018-2021 Bmw 2 Series F87 M2 Competition

Drop the ride height into the Drift Spec’s intended window with the bump stroke set correctly and the M2 Competition stops fighting transitions. The front end takes initial steering input cleanly, the rear breaks away on demand instead of in a panic, and the chassis stays settled mid-slide where a stock-damped car would start to porpoise off the bump stops. Sustained angle is where this kit earns its keep – the dampers are tuned to resist the heat fade you get on a continuous skid-pad run rather than a single hot lap. The S55’s weight high up in the engine bay is part of why the F87 wants to snap when you give it too much; the Drift Spec damping curve gives you a wider entry window before that happens. Steering feel through the hydraulically-assisted rack stays informative rather than vague.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is engineered specifically for drift competition use, not as a stiffer flavour of a fast-road coilover. The geometry has been worked out around stabilising body movement during high-speed turn-in so the driver can hold a clean, set angle rather than fighting yaw oscillation. The kit’s character only reveals itself once you commit to the lower ride height with the matched bump stroke – that combination is what unlocks the drift control behaviour the engineering brief was built around. Construction is XYZ Racing’s competition-spec damper internals, set up to take the repeat heat cycles a serious drift day puts into the corners. Spring rates and damping are matched to the F87’s short-wheelbase, rear-drive layout rather than a generic platform map. This is a single-purpose coilover and it makes no apology for that.

Fitment for the Bmw 2 SERIES F87 M2 Competition (2018-2021)

Confirmed application for the F87 M2 Competition chassis, model years 2018 through 2021 with the S55 twin-turbo straight-six. Chassis code BM82-1. This is the Competition variant specifically, not the earlier N55-powered F87 M2.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
