XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen TOURAN φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2015-2026

A Touran doing sealed-stage tarmac work carries a weight and body-shape problem most rally builds never face: it is a tall, long-wheelbase MPV, not a three-door hatch, and every mid-corner compression on a rough stage surface loads a taller centre of gravity than the Golf platform it borrows from. The factory answer to that in higher-spec cars was adaptive electronic damping – useful on the road, but a liability once you start pushing stage speeds where the ECU’s comfort-biased damping maps simply cannot react fast enough.

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover for the Touran Φ55 replaces that electronically-controlled strut with a fixed-rate mechanical damper and pairs it with the cancellation kit needed to stop the car’s electronic damping system from flagging a fault. The result is a chassis that reacts the same way corner after corner, regardless of what the factory control unit thinks the road surface should be doing.

What this coilover kit does for your 2015-2026 Volkswagen Touran

Once the electronic damping is cancelled out and the Tarmac Rally struts are in, the Touran stops hunting for a damping setting mid-stage – the same valving reacts to a compression the same way whether it is the first corner of the stage or the last. On a car this tall, that consistency does more for confidence than an outright drop in ride height ever could: body roll into a fast tarmac left-right is arrested earlier, and the rear axle settles rather than continuing to move after the front has already loaded up. Front-end response sharpens because the strut is no longer waiting on a signal from a control module before it firms up, which matters when a Touran’s nose has real mass to manage under trail-braking into a hairpin.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line specifically around sealed-surface stage work, where the damper has to soak up the shock of hitting an uneven section of pavement without kicking the body sideways or unloading a tyre mid-corner. The valving is set to absorb that kind of sharp, high-frequency hit while keeping the contact patch pressed into the road, which is what actually gets traction back after a bump rather than just cushioning the cabin. Every damping stage in this range comes from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme rather than a generic road-and-track compromise, so the settings are already biased toward the stability a stage car needs instead of a track car’s slower, smoother-surface requirements. On the Touran specifically, that translates into a strut that keeps the MPV’s taller body settled through direction changes without the vague, floaty character you’d expect from a factory-damped people carrier pushed into a discipline it was never sold for.

Fitment for the Volkswagen Touran (2015-2026)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Touran Φ55 (chassis code VO46-1-C), covering the 2015-2026 range fitted with factory electronic damping. The cancellation kit for electronic damping is included as standard with this SKU, so the vehicle’s control electronics are addressed at the same time as the mechanical strut swap rather than left to throw a fault after fitment.
