XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF R MK7 4WD φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

The Golf R Mk7’s Haldex four-wheel-drive system and launch control were built for hard standing-start acceleration, but a drag strip run asks more of a chassis than any launch-control map can deliver on its own. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover is set up specifically for that load case, shifting the car’s front-to-rear weight balance at the moment of launch so the driven wheels load up and bite instead of spinning off the line.

Because this fitment covers the DCC-equipped MK7 R, the kit includes the cancellation solution needed to remove the factory adaptive damping electronics without triggering a fault light, clearing the way for a fixed mechanical coilover to take over ride control completely. It is the right spec for an R that spends its weekends at the strip rather than the circuit.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Volkswagen GOLF R

Fitted to the Mk7 R’s chassis code VO20-11-C platform, this coilover is tuned to manage weight transfer onto the rear axle and driven wheels the instant the clutch or launch control releases, rather than leaving the chassis to squat and settle on its own. That faster, more controlled transfer means less idle wheel spin off the line and a more consistent 60-foot time run after run. Ride height is adjustable independently of that damping behaviour, so you can set the Golf R low enough for stance or aero without giving up the launch geometry the kit is built around. Because the Haldex system is already sending torque to all four corners, the coilover’s job is to make sure that torque finds grip the instant it arrives, not to fight wheel hop after the fact.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing range is built around one specific job: 0-400m acceleration runs, and it is engineered to work across front-, rear- and four-wheel-drive platforms rather than a single drivetrain layout. The core idea is weight management under launch – the coilover is set up to redistribute load toward whichever wheels are doing the driving at the instant of launch, forcing greater tyre compression at the contact patch. That extra compression is what shortens the window where a tyre is spinning instead of gripping, and it is what keeps the car settled once it is moving at speed rather than skating or wandering under power. On the Haldex-equipped Golf R this behaviour is tuned around a 4WD launch, where front and rear axles both need to load correctly rather than just the rear, and the kit is matched to the φ55 damper body fitted to this platform.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF R MK7 4WD φ55 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2012-2020)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen Golf R Mk7, chassis code VO20-11-C, covering the 2012 to 2020 production run of the Haldex four-wheel-drive car. Because the Mk7 R was available with factory adaptive electronic damping, this fitment includes the cancellation kit required to disable that system cleanly so the XYZ Racing coilover can take over ride and damping control without dashboard fault codes.

Spec your ride height and damping setup for a strip-focused Golf R Mk7 and build yours below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
