XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF R MK6 4WD φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

Drifting a 4WD car is a fight against the platform’s own instincts, and the Golf R Mk6 is no exception. Where a rear-drive car rotates on throttle, the Haldex-fed R fights to pull itself straight – so getting the body to hold a committed angle depends entirely on what the suspension is doing at each corner. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that exact problem.

This kit replaces the Mk6’s front McPherson strut and rear multi-link setup with a purpose-tuned drift platform, and on this fitment it comes with the cancellation kit for the Golf R’s electronic damping control, so the factory DCC electronics aren’t fighting the manual valving underneath.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF R

Drop the ride height correctly with the Drift Spec’s bump-stroke adjustment and the Golf R’s body control changes immediately – less weight transfer lag when you transition from throttle to counter-steer, and a lower roll centre that keeps the nose planted while the rear is loaded up sideways. That stability under high-speed direction changes is the whole point of a drift-specific platform: it’s tuned to let the body set an angle and hold it, rather than snapping back to grip the moment you lift. On a 4WD car like this Mk6, that matters even more than on a rear-drive drift car, because the front axle is still doing steering and traction work simultaneously. With the electronic damping cancellation kit fitted, the manual damper adjustment you dial in stays exactly where you set it, corner to corner, instead of being overridden by the OE control module.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Drift Spec line specifically for competitive drift racing, not as a fast-road coilover repurposed for the discipline. The construction stabilises body movement through high-speed turning so the car can hold a clean, sustained angle rather than washing out or snapping back. Ride height is dropped through a proper bump-stroke setup rather than simply winding down the perch, which is what lets the chassis keep usable travel once it’s lowered instead of running out of stroke mid-slide. For the Golf R Mk6 specifically, this fitment integrates with the modified rear end and includes the cancellation kit needed to bypass the car’s electronic damping control, so the kit’s own valving does the work the factory system would otherwise interfere with. The result is a coilover built around controlling the car through sustained angle and transition, rather than around lap time or ride comfort.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF R (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Golf R Mk6, chassis code VO19-2-A-C, covering the 2008 to 2012 model years in 4WD guise with the φ55 modified rear integration. It includes the cancellation kit required for cars fitted with electronic damping control, so the manual valving isn’t overridden by the factory system.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
