XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2020

Loose surfaces expose the MK7 GTI’s weak point fast: 227-245bhp going through the front axle on gravel or snow needs suspension that can absorb a hit without pitching the nose or spinning the inside wheel. The EA888’s torque delivery is manageable on tarmac; on loose ground it punishes any setup that runs out of travel or heats up its damping oil after a few hard stages.

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around that problem rather than around lap times. It trades the tight, high-frequency control of a circuit-only kit for longer stroke and thermal headroom, which is exactly what a GTI running rallycross or snow events actually needs to stay planted run after run.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2020 Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI

Extended front and rear travel gives the MK7’s MacPherson-strut front and multi-link rear a bigger buffer before the suspension bottoms out over compressions and washboard gravel, which is where standard-length coilovers on this platform start to crash through. A larger reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas keeps damping force consistent as the shock works hard over a full stage or session, instead of fading as fluid temperature climbs – the failure mode that catches out shorter-travel kits on loose surfaces. The three external adjustment knobs let you separate compression and rebound behaviour for a car that’s carrying a turbocharged four-cylinder over its front wheels, useful for balancing traction off the line against control on the rebound over crests. Because the MK7 GTI left the factory with DCC electronic adaptive damping, this kit’s cancellation module removes the car’s dependency on the factory damper control unit so the mechanical valving in each shock does the job the electronics used to handle.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is XYZ Racing’s damper for rally and rallycross use rather than smooth-tarmac track days. The longer-travel front and rear units are sized specifically to give the car a bigger working range before hitting the bump stops, which matters when the road surface itself is uneven rather than just fast. The bigger oil and nitrogen charge is the key spec here: more fluid volume means the shock has more thermal mass to draw on, so oil temperature stays in its working range for longer instead of spiking and softening the damping partway through a stage. The three-knob adjustment uses a small-orifice damping circuit, and XYZ Racing notes that a faint tick or knock through big compressions is the fluid passing through that restricted passage doing its job, not a fault. It’s a damper built to keep working when the surface underneath it won’t stay still.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI (2013-2020)

Built to XYZ Racing’s VO20-8-C application for the Golf MK7 GTI, 2013 to 2020, with a 55mm shock body and the modified rear-integrated mounting this chassis needs. The listing includes the cancellation kit required to run mechanical damping alongside – or in place of – the MK7’s factory DCC electronics, so no separate DCC delete part is needed.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
