XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2020

The MK7 GTI left the factory with DCC adaptive dampers wired into a multi-link rear axle tuned for tarmac, not for a five-mile gravel stage that changes surface every quarter mile. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover kit replaces that electronic damping architecture outright, pairing a modified rear integration with a cancellation kit so the GTI’s ECU no longer expects a signal that isn’t there.

Built for gravel-stage rally and rallycross work, this kit trades adaptive electronics for mechanical, driver-set control the car can rely on over broken surfaces, jumps and off-camber ruts – conditions a road-biased GTI chassis was never asked to survive.

What this coilover kit does for your 2013-2020 Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI

Swap a DCC-equipped GTI onto a gravel stage and the standard rear axle geometry runs out of travel long before the surface does – washboard ruts, sudden dips and mid-corner compressions ask far more of the dampers than any UK B-road ever will. The long-stroke, long-spring layout on this kit gives the MK7’s front struts and rear multi-link mounts the extra travel to soak up that vibration without kicking the chassis off line, while the inverted tube construction keeps the damper rod shielded from the sand, mud and stone a FWD hatch throws up running hard on loose ground. With the EA888’s torque going through the front axle alone, load transfer under power is the GTI’s biggest traction problem on gravel; damping set up to control high-G cornering loads rather than tarmac body control helps keep the front tyres loaded and working instead of spinning free. The cancellation kit means the dash stays clean and the ECU doesn’t hunt for a DCC signal the mechanical dampers no longer provide.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally line specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the surface underneath the car changes constantly and the shock absorber does more work than almost any other component on it. The inverted tube design is a direct response to that variability – sand, snow and silt all load a damper differently, and mounting the tube inverted keeps the working parts shielded whichever of those surfaces the stage throws up next. Stroke length and spring length are both extended well beyond a road or track coilover’s spec, giving the damper the range to absorb chassis vibration from washboard and rough ground while still controlling the aggressive compressions that come from landing off a jump or running fast over broken gravel. That same range has to cope with the extreme cornering loads a rally car generates mid-stage, where lateral G can spike well past anything a circuit car sees through a comparable corner. XYZ Racing’s own Rally Racing team set the spring rates across the range, so the base tune reflects what’s actually needed to keep a car planted and pointing the right way when the road disappears from under it.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI (2013-2020)

This kit is built to chassis code VO20-8-C, covering the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 GTI φ55 across the 2013-2020 production run. It’s specified for cars fitted with the modified rear integration and electronic damping cancellation kit, making it the correct fitment for GTIs that left the factory with DCC adaptive suspension rather than passive dampers – confirm your car carries this designation before ordering.

Every Gravel Rally kit is built to the exact spec code for its chassis, so match the VO20-8-C fitment to your GTI and configure yours below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front
