XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2008-2012

The Golf MK6 4Motion’s Haldex-based all-wheel-drive hardware crowds the rear subframe in a way the front-wheel-drive Mk6 never has to deal with. XYZ Racing built this Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover with a modified rear integration specifically to work around that packaging, rather than asking you to compromise on travel to clear the Haldex plumbing.

This is a rally and rally-cross application: long-travel front and rear dampers that keep the wheel loaded over crests, ruts and washboard gravel instead of topping out early. On the MK6 4WD, that extra stroke pairs with the standard AWD torque split to keep the car pointed where you aim it when the surface underneath keeps changing from lap to lap.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated)

Extended suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume gives the damper more thermal mass to draw on before oil temperature climbs, so consecutive stages or repeated snow-covered forest sections do not cook the shock the way a smaller-reservoir unit would. The three external adjustment knobs let you separate compression and rebound response, useful when one stage is rutted gravel and the next is hard-packed snow needing a different rebound rate entirely. Extra front and rear travel keeps the tyre loaded through compressions and crests instead of letting the axle unweight, which matters even more on a Haldex AWD platform because the system can only send torque through a wheel that is actually in contact with the road. Ride height adjusts independently of spring preload, so you can set stance for a class regulation without touching your damping curve.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing designed the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line for rally and rally-cross use, where the surface never behaves the same way twice. Front and rear travel is stretched beyond the road-going Pro Racing spec, giving the axle more room to move before the damper tops or bottoms out over crests, ruts and compressions. The reservoir carries a larger charge of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard damper, which lets the unit shed heat over a long stage or repeated runs without the oil thinning out and losing control. Three external knobs meter flow through a deliberately narrow oil passage, and on sustained big-hit sections that passage can produce a faint clicking or ticking noise as oil forces its way through – that is a function of the design, not a fault, and it does not affect damping performance. The whole package is built around circuit and stage use where bump absorption matters more than outright low-speed compliance.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 4WD φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated) (2008-2012)

This kit is built specifically for the Volkswagen Golf MK6 4WD, chassis code VO18-A, covering the 2008 to 2012 model years. The rear damper uses XYZ Racing’s modified integrated mounting to clear the Haldex all-wheel-drive hardware unique to the 4WD variant, so confirm your car is the 4WD/4Motion MK6 rather than the front-wheel-drive version before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
