XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The Golf Mk6’s independent multi-link rear was never built for a gravel stage, and that’s exactly the problem this kit is engineered to solve. Standard-fit dampers on loose surfaces either bottom out under compression G-force or wallow through the transition when the surface changes from hardpack to silt mid-corner, and the Mk6’s factory-fit electronic damping control has no place in a car being pointed at a rally special stage.

This Gravel Rally coilover swaps that electronic system out entirely – this specific fitment includes the cancellation kit so the ECU stops hunting for a damper signal that no longer exists – and replaces it with a mechanical setup built for exactly this kind of abuse. For a front-drive hatch that’s going to be launched, landed and bounced across broken ground for stage after stage, that’s the difference between a car that survives day one and one that doesn’t.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6

Fitted to the 2008-2012 Golf Mk6, the long-stroke design gives the front and rear axles the extra travel needed to keep the wheels tracking the ground through compressions and crests instead of skipping across them. The inverted tube construction keeps the working rod protected from flung stones and grit – a real consideration on a car that wasn’t designed with rally-spec ground clearance in mind. Long springs paired with that extended stroke absorb the chassis vibration that gravel driving generates continuously, rather than in the occasional pothole hit a road car sees. The cancellation kit means the Mk6’s factory Golf electronics are fully out of the loop, so damping behaviour is set mechanically and stays consistent regardless of what the car’s ECU thinks should be happening. Together it’s a setup built to bear extreme cornering loads without the front end diving or the rear stepping out unpredictably on loose surfaces.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road surface is the most aggressive a suspension component will ever face – sand, snow, silt and everything in between, often within the same stage. The inverted tube layout is the core of that design, oriented to cope with whichever of those surfaces turns up next rather than being optimised for one. Long stroke travel and long-format springs work together to soak up continuous chassis vibration and to absorb the landing loads from high-speed compressions, while still holding composure under the extreme lateral G-force generated turning on loose ground. Spring rates aren’t a desk exercise here – every rate offered has been run and validated by a rally racing team, so what you’re fitting reflects stage-tested settings rather than a road-derived guess adapted for gravel.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Golf Mk6, chassis code VO19-A-C, across the 2008-2012 production run, in the φ55 rear configuration with modified rear integration. It’s supplied as the cancellation-kit variant, which disables the factory electronic damping control – fit this version only if your car has that system and you intend to remove it from the damping loop.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
