XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota CAMRY SE XV50 (80mm center-to-center) 2012-2017

The XV50 Camry SE was never built for loose surfaces, which is exactly why a purpose-built rally damper matters more here than it would on a car designed with any gravel-stage intent. A big front-wheel-drive saloon riding soft OE springs will bottom out and skate the moment the surface turns to washboard gravel or wet silt, and the standard suspension has no way to cope with sustained high-speed compression events.

This Gravel Rally coilover replaces that setup with a long-stroke, long-spring damper built specifically to survive stage conditions rather than just tolerate them. It’s the spec for owners campaigning or trialling an XV50 off tarmac, where the demands on the chassis are fundamentally different from a fast-road or track setup.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2017 Toyota CAMRY SE XV50

On loose surfaces the extra stroke length lets the wheel follow terrain that would otherwise unload it completely, keeping the tyre in contact through compressions that would have a stock XV50 crashing through its bump stops. The long spring rate works with that extended travel to soak up chassis vibration transmitted from sandstone, snow-packed ruts or silt without transferring every hit straight into the body structure. Under hard cornering and high-G direction changes the setup is built to hold its geometry rather than wallow, which matters on a chassis this size and this nose-heavy when weight is being thrown around at speed. The inverted tube design also changes how the damper handles side-loading compared with a standard upright-tube unit, relevant on a front-driver where the strut is doing double duty as a locating member.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road conditions are consistently the most aggressive a suspension component will face in competition. The inverted tube layout was chosen to deal with the range of surfaces a stage can throw at a car in a single run – sandstone one section, snow or silt the next – rather than being tuned for one surface type. Stroke length and spring length are both extended well beyond a road or track spec, giving the damper room to work through the kind of chassis vibration and repeated high-speed impacts that gravel stages generate. That extra travel is also what lets the unit absorb the extreme G-forces generated mid-turn without the suspension running out of movement. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set following testing by a rally racing team, so the rates reflect stage-proven inputs rather than a desk calculation carried over from a tarmac product.

Fitment for the Toyota CAMRY SE XV50 (2012-2017)

This kit is built to the TO16-1 chassis code, covering the Toyota Camry SE XV50 from 2012 to 2017, and is specified for the 80mm centre-to-centre mounting configuration. Confirm your Camry SE matches the XV50 generation and this centre-to-centre spacing before ordering, as mounting geometry varies across Camry generations.

Spring rates and damping in this range are set from real stage testing, not a road-car baseline – configure yours below to match your event and surface.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
