XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota AVENSIS T22 1998-2002

The T22 Avensis rolled off the line at Toyota’s Burnaston plant as a comfortable front-wheel-drive family car, with soft, long-travel struts tuned for motorway miles and British B-roads rather than loose surfaces. That compliance is exactly what a gravel crew can exploit. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Toyota Avensis T22 keeps the long stroke the platform needs over a rough stage while taking control of the body movement the standard dampers let run loose.

This is a loose-surface kit, not a tarmac lowering job. The Gravel Rally series is built around an inverted strut tube and long springs, so the front struts can hold the tyres down through ruts, crests and the high-speed bouncy sections where a road damper would pack down and skip off line.

What these coilovers do for your 1998-2002 Toyota Avensis T22

On gravel, wheel travel is grip. The long-stroke design lets the front wheels of your Avensis T22 drop into ruts and extend over crests instead of topping out, so the contact patch stays loaded when the surface falls away. The inverted strut tube places the larger-diameter section at the top, where side loads peak, which resists the bending forces a front-wheel-drive nose generates under hard cornering on loose ground. Long springs soak up the constant vibration and stutter of a broken stage, and because the spring rates were settled by XYZ’s rally team rather than guessed, the car sits and reacts predictably when you commit to a corner at speed. The front end bites and the body stops wallowing the moment the road turns to sandstone, snow or silt.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally damper is XYZ Racing’s answer to the most punishing surface in motorsport. Rallycross and gravel stages throw sandstone, snow and silt at a car in a single event, and the shock does more work here than on any sealed circuit. XYZ builds the unit around an inverted tube layout so it can be retuned for each of those surfaces. The long stroke and long spring are the core of it: they absorb the chassis vibration of a rough road, let the car attack high-speed bouncy sections without deflecting off line, and carry the extreme cornering G-force that loose-surface driving feeds into a suspension. Every spring rate in the range was tested and signed off by a working rally team, so the baseline you bolt on is a competition setting rather than a catalogue figure.

Fitment for the Toyota Avensis T22 (1998-2002)

This kit is cut for the T22-generation Toyota Avensis built from 1998 to 2002, mounting to the standard front strut and rear locations on that chassis. Only the T22 chassis code and 1998-2002 year span are assumed here – no other fitment specifics are implied. Confirm your engine and trim in the configurator so the spring and damper spec match your car.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
