XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Tesla MODEL Y (4WD) 2020-2024

The Model Y’s dual-motor layout delivers full torque from a dead stop, with no clutch, torque converter or gear change to soften the hit. That means the weight transfer a combustion car spreads across a slow build-up of revs happens here in a fraction of a second. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover for the Tesla Model Y (4WD) is built around exactly that problem: getting the chassis to load all four contact patches before wheelspin gets a chance to start.

Where a fast-road or track coilover chases balance mid-corner, a drag-specific set-up chases the first half-second off the line. On a car already carrying well over two tonnes of battery and motors sitting low in the floor, that means setting front and rear ride height independently so the Model Y’s weight shifts onto the driven tyres the moment the accelerator is buried, rather than a beat later.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2024 Tesla Model Y (4WD)

Fitted to a 2020-2024 Model Y (4WD), this coilover lets you set front and rear ride height separately, so both axles can be loaded exactly as much as the surface and tyre compound need. That control matters more here than on a combustion car: the Model Y’s torque doesn’t build through a rev range, it is present from the first millimetre of pedal travel, so any gap in weight transfer shows up immediately as spinning tyres rather than forward motion. Get the height split right and you cut the window where the tyres are underloaded during the initial launch, which is where most of a run’s traction is won or lost. Dropping the ride height from standard also pulls the centre of gravity down, helping keep a battery-heavy chassis settled as all-wheel torque arrives hard from the very first inch of travel.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drag Racing coilover for 0-400m runs, and the same principle applies whether the donor car is front-wheel, rear-wheel or, as with this Model Y application, four-wheel drive. The core idea is independent front and rear height adjustment, so the car’s weight can be pushed onto the driven tyres the instant the accelerator opens instead of waiting for body movement to catch up naturally. Loading the tyre harder this way is what actually turns torque into forward motion rather than tyre smoke and wasted rear (or, in this case, all-wheel) grip. Shortening that unloaded window means the car spends less time spinning and more time accelerating, and the launch becomes more repeatable run to run rather than a lottery on how the weight happens to settle. On a dual-motor Model Y, where all four tyres share the driving, that adjustability extends to balancing front and rear together instead of treating the rear axle as the only one doing the work.

Fitment for the Tesla Model Y (4WD) (2020-2024)

This kit is specced for the Tesla Model Y (4WD), chassis code TE03, across the 2020-2024 model years. It is built around the dual-motor all-wheel-drive car specifically, not the single-motor rear-drive variant, so confirm your build sheet lists 4WD before ordering.

  • Model Y (4WD) ride height set-up for consistent weight transfer off the line

Set your front and rear ride height split for the 2020-2024 Model Y (4WD) and configure your spec below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
