XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Subaru XV GP 4WD 2012-2017

The XV GP left the factory as a lifted, softly-sprung Impreza-based crossover – ride height and spring rates chosen for gravel comfort, not for holding an angle at high speed. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover kit for the 4WD GP chassis (2012-2017) exists to undo that: drop the stance, firm up the platform, and give the chassis the stability it needs to rotate on command instead of rolling and wallowing into a corner.

This is a coilover built around one job – competitive drifting – not a do-everything fast-road compromise. Every part of the set-up, from spring rate to bump stroke, keeps the XV GP’s body settled through a high-speed turn so the driver holds the line rather than fighting the chassis for it.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2017 Subaru XV GP 4WD

Lower the XV GP onto XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilovers and the first thing you notice is how much less the body moves under transition. Stock crossover ride height and soft factory springs let the GP’s tall stance roll into a corner before it decides whether to grip or slide; this kit removes that lag by dropping the centre of gravity and tightening the spring rate around the AWD platform’s behaviour. Bump stroke is set specifically for controlled body movement rather than comfort, so when you throw the car into a slide the chassis settles into the angle instead of continuing to pitch after the initial input. On a 4WD chassis that stability matters more than it would on a RWD car – Subaru’s symmetrical layout sends drive to all four corners, and a chassis that isn’t fighting body roll is one where that drive can be used to hold an angle rather than spent fighting the suspension.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing engineered the Drift Spec line specifically for competition drifting, where the objective isn’t outright grip but body control at extreme slip angles. The idea is straightforward: keep the chassis stable enough at speed that the driver, not the suspension, decides when and how much the car rotates. That means a ride height low enough to make weight transfer predictable, matched to a bump stroke calibrated for controlled movement rather than absorption. Where a road or track coilover is tuned to keep the tyre planted through every input, the Drift Spec set-up is tuned to help the driver find and hold an angle, then bring the car back cleanly. On the XV GP’s 4WD platform that means a chassis that stops fighting the driver mid-slide once ride height and bump stroke are set for the car’s actual weight and drivetrain layout.

Fitment for the Subaru XV GP (2012-2017)

This kit is specced for the Subaru XV GP chassis, built 2012 to 2017, in 4WD form. If your XV carries the GP chassis code and the standard Subaru symmetrical AWD drivetrain from that production run, this Drift Spec coilover is matched to your car’s mounting points and geometry.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
