XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Seat IBIZA 6K2 (TYPE 3) 1999-2002

The 6K2 Ibiza carries more competition history than its supermini badge lets on – SEAT Sport ran the platform to an F2 World Rally title in the mid-90s, and the road cars share the same light, front-driven, torsion-beam layout underneath. On a loose surface that car wants travel and a damper that keeps the contact patch planted over ruts and compressions, not a stiff tarmac set-up fighting the road.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that brief. It is a long-stroke design aimed squarely at gravel-stage rally use, the discipline where the road surface does more to unsettle a car than any other. For a 1999-2002 Ibiza being prepared for forest stages or rallycross, this is the spec that matches the surface rather than the showroom.

What this coilover kit does for your 1999-2002 Seat Ibiza

The long spring and long damper stroke let the front struts soak up impacts that would bottom a shorter coilover, so the Ibiza keeps driving forward over a rough stage instead of skipping sideways. Soft, progressive spring rates hold the tyres in contact with sandstone, silt or snow, which is where stage times are won on a light front-wheel-drive car. Through fast direction changes the inverted damper body resists the high lateral loads a gravel car generates, keeping damping consistent when the chassis is loaded hard. The result is a 6K2 that rides the surface, puts its power down out of slow corners, and stays readable when the grip keeps shifting underneath you.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is a damper developed specifically for rally and rallycross, the two disciplines where surface condition punishes the suspension hardest. XYZ Racing uses an inverted tube construction to cope with the range of surfaces a stage throws up – sandstone, snow and silt all behave differently under load, and the inverted body adds strut rigidity where a gravel car needs it most. The long stroke and long springs are there to absorb chassis vibration and high-speed impacts from a bouncy, broken road, while still bearing the extreme cornering G a rally car loads into its outside wheels. The spring rates are not guessed at: each setting has been tested by XYZ Racing’s rally team, so the kit arrives matched to real stage use rather than a generic catalogue figure.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
