Seat IBIZA 6K2 (TYPE 3) 1999-2002 — Coilovers
The XYZ Racing coilover range for the Seat Ibiza 6K2 (Type 3) goes after the trait every owner notices first – a light, softly sprung front-drive hatch that leans early and runs wide when you lean on the front end. Built on MacPherson struts up front and a torsion-beam rear axle, the 6K2 has quick, willing turn-in hiding under standard dampers that never quite control the body.
These kits replace that factory compromise with height-adjustable platforms and damping sized for the car’s modest kerb weight. From the warm 1.4 and 1.6 shells to the 1.8T 20V Cupra, the same chassis underpins the lot – and this coilover range, in eight specifications, lets you set it up for road, circuit or stage.
What this coilover kit does for your 1999-2002 Seat Ibiza 6K2 (Type 3)
Drop the ride height and you pull the 6K2’s centre of gravity down, cutting the body roll that blunts its natural eagerness to turn. Firmer, better-controlled damping keeps the front tyres planted through mid-corner bumps instead of skating over them, so the front-drive traction you rely on out of slow corners arrives sooner and more predictably. Ride-height adjustment also corrects the slightly nose-up factory stance and closes the wheel-arch gap that defines a standard Ibiza. On rougher British B-roads the firmer rates trade a little plushness for far tighter control over crests and compressions, and the adjustability means you can wind it back for daily use or set it lower for a track day.
About the coilover range
XYZ Racing builds each kit around a threaded damper body with independent spring-platform adjustment, so ride height and corner balance are set mechanically rather than by swapping springs. The range splits by intent. Super Sport and Street Advanced sit at the fast-road end, prioritising a usable ride with sharper composure. Top Sport and Circuit Master step up damping control for repeat track sessions, where heat and load build through a stint. Racing Spec is the hardest circuit tune, while Tarmac Rally and Gravel Rally carry the travel and valving stage use demands – tarmac firm and low, gravel longer and more compliant. Drift Spec adds the steering angle and rear stability that discipline needs. All eight share the same fitment to the 6K2 shell; the difference is spring rate, damping and intended surface, so you choose by how you actually use the car.
