XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Porsche 997 TURBO CARRERA-4 2005-2011

The 997 Turbo Carrera-4’s rear-overhanging flat-six sits past the rear axle centreline – a packaging decision that defines how the car behaves when you push it seriously on circuit. Combined with the additional mass of the PTM all-wheel-drive system, the result is a heavier, less nimble interpretation of the 911 than the GT2 or GT3, and one that demands a methodical approach to suspension tuning before genuine lap-time gains become available.

XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilovers are built for serious track and time-attack work at exactly this level. The damper settings come from direct WTCC competition involvement, which is relevant – a 997 Turbo at race pace imposes very different demands on suspension hardware than a weekend circuit car.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 Porsche 997 Turbo Carrera-4

Under sustained braking into a fast corner, the 997 Turbo Carrera-4’s front MacPherson struts carry significant nose-dive load that standard PASM was calibrated to manage conservatively. The Racing Spec’s firmer, competition-derived damping resists that dive, keeping the front geometry in its intended working range through the braking zone. At the rear, the multi-link suspension is managing cornering load and the leverage of the overhanging engine mass simultaneously – proper rebound control here is what separates a car that rotates predictably from one that pushes wide, even with PTM distributing drive. Adjustable ride height lets you work the Turbo’s centre of gravity below the OEM geometry, which pays dividends in mechanical grip and car balance through medium-speed direction changes.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s track and competition-grade coilover, and the specification reflects that orientation directly: all damper settings were developed through involvement in racing events including WTCC, rather than extrapolated from road-car baselines. For 997 Turbo builds that have moved beyond standard trim – substantial power modifications, upgraded braking systems, or aerodynamic additions – XYZ Racing offers a custom shock absorber route. Supply the details of every significant upgrade on the car and the circuit you intend to run, and the dampers are built to that specific combination rather than a generic track specification. This custom pathway is designed for cars approaching A-class racing or factory-racing vehicle specification, where off-the-shelf settings are inherently a compromise.

Fitment for the Porsche 997 TURBO CARRERA-4 (2005-2011)

This kit covers the Porsche 997 Turbo Carrera-4 under chassis code PO04-2, from 2005 to 2011 – encompassing both the 997.1 generation (3.6-litre twin-turbo) and the revised 997.2 (3.8-litre with direct fuel injection). If the car has been fitted with GT2 or GT3 suspension components, verify mounting compatibility before ordering, as those variants use different front and rear geometry.
